Requirements

Key Responsibilities

  • Review application data, loss runs, and third-party reports (CLUE, MVR, LexisNexis) to assess underwriting eligibility.
  • Calculate premiums using ISO manuals, class codes, and carrier-specific rating models.
  • Analyze past claims to identify loss trends and determine loss ratios relative to industry standards.
  • Draft policy terms and prepare coverage documents, including endorsements and declarations.
  • Evaluate referred cases and provide well-documented underwriting decisions with clear risk recommendations.

Ideal Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in commercial or personal lines underwriting, with familiarity in platforms like Guidewire or Duck Creek.
  • Strong understanding of ISO classification codes, rating manuals, and policy forms.
  • High attention to detail and ability to assess risk across multiple data sources.
  • Experience working with multi-line policies such as property, auto, and general liability.
  • Skilled in reviewing third-party insurance data reports for decision-making.
