1. Overview
We are seeking experienced musicians and music professionals to contribute to a research project focused on evaluating and improving generative AI models for music and lyrics.
As a Music & Lyrics Expert - Norwegian, you will assess AI-generated lyrics across different musical styles and evaluate them against detailed quality standards. Your expertise in songwriting, performance, composition, or the Norwegian music landscape will help determine whether AI-generated content is natural, creative, original, culturally appropriate, and aligned with the intended prompt.
Candidates should have strong knowledge of the Norwegian music scene and native or near-native Norwegian language proficiency.

2. Key Responsibilities
- Compare AI-generated lyrics with published songs and identify meaningful similarities or overlaps.
- Evaluate lyrics for:
- Quality
- Creativity
- Originality
- Prompt adherence
- Overall lyrical effectiveness
- Assess whether lyrics sound natural and authentic to Norwegian speakers.
- Evaluate word choice, phrasing, slang, idioms, regional expressions, and cultural nuances.
- Apply detailed evaluation guidelines consistently across different genres and lyrical styles.
- Identify awkward, unnatural, repetitive, or culturally inappropriate language.
- Provide clear feedback that can help improve AI-generated music and lyric outputs.
- Use critical listening skills and professional musical judgment when evaluating AI-generated content.
3. Core Qualifications
- Native or near-native proficiency in Norwegian.
- Strong ability to read and follow detailed written instructions in English.
- Professional or substantial experience as a:
- Songwriter
- Lyricist
- Performer
- Composer
- Music journalist
- Music professional in a related discipline
- Strong knowledge of the Norwegian music industry and contemporary music landscape.
- Familiarity with Norwegian musical genres, sub-genres, artists, songwriting conventions, and cultural expressions.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to articulate why specific lyrics are effective or ineffective.
- Access to headphones or studio monitors suitable for critical listening.
4. Nice to Have
- Formal education or training in music performance, music theory, composition, or songwriting.
- Credited, published, or commercially released songwriting work.
- Broad knowledge of contemporary Norwegian artists, genres, and sub-genres.
- Previous experience evaluating AI-generated content, music, lyrics, or other creative outputs.
- Experience working with structured evaluation criteria or quality-rating frameworks.
5. Project Details
- Role: Music & Lyrics Expert - Norwegian
- Start Date: Immediate
- Duration: Up to 6 months
- Work Arrangement: Fully Remote
- Commitment: Flexible; most contributors work approximately 20 hours per week, with no fixed weekly cap.
- Engagement Type: Independent Contractor

7. Contract and Payment Terms

- The work will not require access to confidential or proprietary information belonging to any employer, client, or institution.
- Payments are made weekly based on services rendered through available payment platforms.
- H-1B and STEM OPT candidates are not currently supported.
