The listing

At ZeptoLab, we're looking for a General Counsel to become a trusted legal partner for the business and help navigate complex legal matters across multiple international jurisdictions.

This is a hands-on senior role for a broad legal generalist who enjoys solving diverse legal challenges, partnering with business leaders, and driving operational excellence through AI and modern legal technologies.

What you'll do

  • Advise the business on corporate, commercial and regulatory matters across multiple jurisdictions, with a particular focus on the UK.
  • Draft, negotiate and manage a wide range of commercial agreements, including publishing, licensing, IP, SaaS, procurement and strategic partnerships.
  • Partner with business leaders by identifying legal risks, providing pragmatic recommendations and supporting informed business decisions.
  • Support cross-border legal projects, corporate governance and international compliance.
  • Manage intellectual property matters, including trademarks, copyrights, licensing and IP protection.
  • Drive GDPR compliance, privacy governance, data processing agreements and cross-border data transfers.
  • Continuously improve contract management, legal documentation standards and legal operations.
  • Support statutory audits, due diligence projects and regulatory reviews.
  • Introduce AI-powered legal workflows and automation for contract drafting, legal research, document review, compliance monitoring and knowledge management.
  • Collaborate with external legal advisors across different jurisdictions.

What we're looking for

  • Extensive experience as a senior in-house legal counsel or general counsel in an international company.
  • Proven in-house legal experience in the game development industry.
  • Broad international legal experience across multiple jurisdictions, with strong expertise in UK corporate and commercial law.
  • Strong experience with commercial contracts, licensing and intellectual property.
  • Ability to quickly navigate unfamiliar jurisdictions by working effectively with external counsel when needed.
  • Business-oriented mindset — you can clearly communicate legal risks while understanding that business leaders make the final decisions.
  • Strong ownership and willingness to take responsibility beyond a narrow area of expertise.
  • Passion for improving legal processes through AI and modern legal technologies.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Fluency in both English and Russian would be considered an advantage.

Why this role is interesting

  • The chance to expand your expertise across multiple international jurisdictions.
  • Broad exposure to high-impact legal work spanning corporate, commercial, IP, licensing, privacy and compliance.
  • An opportunity to shape how AI is integrated into legal operations and build a modern legal function.
  • Direct access to founders and senior leadership, with the ability to influence strategic business decisions.
