About the Role
The Corporate Strategy Manager will join PHM’s Strategy & Business Operations team as an individual contributor reporting directly to the Chief Strategy Officer. As the CSO’s first team member dedicated exclusively to corporate strategy, this person will take meaningful ownership of rigorous strategic and analytical work and turn it into clear, decision-ready insights for senior leadership.
Strategy at PHM is highly cross-functional and closely connected to how the business is run. In this role, you will work directly with the CSO and regularly engage the CEO, CFO, SVP of FP&A, Head of Business Ops/Product, and a variety of operating leaders across PHM. You will dig deeply into data, research markets, tackle high-priority strategic questions, and translate complex findings into compelling executive, Board, and investor materials. It is an opportunity to work on consequential business questions, take increasing ownership of strategy workstreams, and help drive decisions from analysis through action.
What You’ll Accomplish
- Become a trusted analytical partner who can independently tackle sophisticated questions, work through messy data, identify the insights that matter, and help leaders make better strategic decisions.
- Take increasing ownership of high-priority strategy work, moving from an ambiguous business question through analysis, insight, recommendation, and decision-ready output with appropriate partnership from the CSO and other leaders.
- Elevate PHM’s executive, Board, and investor materials by translating complex analysis and research into clear, concise, evidence-based stories and tangible outputs.
- Develop a strong understanding of PHM’s systems, data, markets, and business so you can operate with increasing self-sufficiency and contribute credibly to high-priority strategic work.
How You’ll Spend Your Days
Drive rigorous analysis and insight. You will conduct business, financial, operational, and performance analysis using Excel, Sigma, and PHM’s data environment. Your work may include gross margin and profitability analysis, unit economics, KPIs and operational insights, utilization and duration analysis, staffing and capacity analysis, market sizing, and growth scenarios. You will build and pressure-test sophisticated models, work through imperfect or messy data, and move beyond reporting what the numbers say to identifying why they matter and what the business should consider doing next.
Turn complexity into executive-ready stories. You will develop high-quality PowerPoint presentations, written briefs, and visual analyses for senior leadership, the Board, and investors. Deliverables may include Board decks and memos, investor materials, and strategic planning materials. You will help shape a logical, concise story from the underlying evidence, clearly articulating the takeaway, implications, tradeoffs, and decisions required.
Develop strategic market perspectives. You will independently conduct and synthesize research on questions such as market sizing, channel opportunities, partnership synergies, and how PHM fits into the competitive landscape. You will use traditional sources as well as AI-enabled research tools to build informed, decision-relevant points of view.
Partner directly with senior leaders. You will work closely with the CSO and regularly engage the CEO, CFO, SVP of FP&A, Head of Business Ops/Product, and a variety of operating leaders across PHM. You will gather inputs, clarify questions, pressure-test assumptions, present work you have owned, and help turn strategic questions into tangible recommendations and outputs.
What You Bring to the Table
Required
- Exceptional analytical and structured problem-solving skills, including advanced Excel capabilities, experience building sophisticated models, and demonstrated ability to work effectively with messy or imperfect data.
- Strong business judgment and the ability to move from analysis to insight, identify what matters, develop a reasoned point of view, and connect findings to business decisions.
- Ability to problem-solve effectively with senior executive leaders, including framing ambiguous questions, pressure-testing assumptions, asking thoughtful questions, and helping translate discussion into a clear path forward.
- Excellent PowerPoint and storytelling capabilities, with the ability to turn complex information into clear, logical, visually effective executive materials.
- Intellectual curiosity, resourcefulness, reliability, and a strong learning orientation. You learn quickly, enjoy embracing a variety of challenges, follow through consistently, and approach the work with a collaborative mindset.
Nice to Have
- A rigorous management consulting foundation or comparable experience conducting sophisticated analytical and strategic work.
- Experience using AI tools effectively for research, synthesis, and strategic analysis.
- Interest in building a long-term career in corporate strategy, including growth strategy, strategic planning, partnerships, adjacencies, and potential future corporate development or investment-related work.
- Experience with Sigma, Snowflake, or other advanced analytics and data tools.
