IXL Learning, developer of personalized learning products used by millions of people globally, is seeking an assessment specialist to join our team as a Language Arts Curriculum Designer and help shape our growing suite of K-12 assessments.
As a Language Arts Curriculum Designer with an assessment focus, you will design clear, engaging assessment items and collaborate with psychometricians and product managers to achieve our educational goals. Your educational insight, creative solutions, strong writing skills, and commitment to quality will make personalized learning a reality for millions of students. #LI-REMOTE
This is a full-time remote position for candidates in the United States.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
- Write and review clear, engaging assessment items to address specified educational objectives in grades K-5
- Review and edit assessment items and collaborate with our team of writers, editors, and illustrators to ensure content is clear, accurate, and age-appropriate
- Write achievement level descriptors and other assessment documentation
- Collaborate with curriculum designers, psychometricians, product managers, and company leaders to determine assessment scope and approach
- Develop and manage project plans to create and deliver high-quality assessment items
- Research and analyze content requirements, including state educational standards
- Assist with other ELA curriculum design projects as assigned, such as creating and reviewing standards alignments and writing and reviewing ELA content for IXL's learning activities
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Education, English, Linguistics, or a related field with an explicit focus on literacy
- 2+ years' experience writing foundational reading items for statewide or national assessments
- Experience teaching beginning or struggling readers how to read using a structured literacy approach
- Outstanding written and spoken communication skills, including the ability to communicate clearly and concisely with a wide range of age groups
- Ability to think strategically and creatively solve problems
- Can-do attitude with an openness to others' ideas and a strong attention to detail
- Ability to quickly learn new guidelines and software; familiarity with HTML, Jira, or version control software is a plus
- Experience in curriculum development and instructional design is a plus
