About Focus Group

Focus Group is a £300m-revenue, 1,400-person technology services company backed by Hg Capital. Following our $1bn valuation in 2024, we're scaling rapidly and investing in AI to transform how we operate and how we serve our 30,000 SME customers.

As we continue to expand our portfolio and scale our operations, we're committed to setting new industry standards in managed service excellence. Our growth trajectory and strategic acquisitions position us as an organization ready to redefine what world-class technical support means in today's rapidly evolving technology landscape.

The role

We're looking for an experienced Azure Cloud Engineer with deep Terraform and DevOps expertise to join our growing Cloud Operations team at a Specialist level. You'll take hands-on ownership of infrastructure engineering - designing, automating and maintaining Azure infrastructure at scale - while acting as a senior technical point of contact for the wider service team.

This role suits someone who lives and breathes infrastructure-as-code, treats automation as the default way of working, and wants to deliver resilient, secure and cost-efficient cloud platforms for our customers.

What you'll be doing

You'll design, build and maintain Azure infrastructure using Terraform as the primary IaC (infrastructure-as-code) tool, working to modular, reusable and version-controlled patterns. You'll develop and own CI/CD pipelines across Azure DevOps and GitHub Actions for both infrastructure and application deployments, and automate provisioning, configuration and lifecycle management across multiple client environments and subscriptions.

You'll implement and enforce security, governance and compliance baselines, covering Azure Policy, RBAC (role-based access control), Key Vault, networking and landing zones, and you'll monitor, troubleshoot and optimise the performance, reliability and cost of Azure workloads. As the senior technical escalation point for Azure, Terraform and DevOps practices, you'll coordinate workload and prioritisation across the team, conduct code and architecture reviews, and help uphold engineering excellence across the team's output.

You'll work closely with Solution Architects and the Head of Cloud Operations on solution design, migrations and customer onboarding, and you'll take part in an on-call / out-of-hours rota.

What you'll bring

You'll have proven, in-depth experience engineering and operating Microsoft Azure environments in production, along with extensive Terraform experience - writing, structuring and maintaining modules, state management, workspaces and remote backends. You'll bring a strong DevOps background, including CI/CD pipeline design, Git-based workflows and release automation.

You'll have demonstrable experience leading or mentoring engineers, setting technical direction and coordinating team delivery, plus solid scripting ability in PowerShell, Bash or Python. A sound understanding of Azure networking, identity (Entra ID), security and governance is essential, alongside experience with monitoring and observability tooling such as Azure Monitor and Log Analytics. You'll bring excellent troubleshooting skills and a methodical, root-cause approach to problems.

It would also be great if you had

Azure certifications (such as AZ-104, AZ-305 or AZ-400) or a HashiCorp Terraform Associate qualification, experience with containers and orchestration (AKS, Docker, Kubernetes), exposure to multi-tenant or MSP environments and client-facing delivery, and familiarity with configuration management and policy-as-code tooling.

What we offer

You'll join a skilled, collaborative Cloud Operations team working on varied, high-impact projects, with genuine investment in your growth through funded certifications and training. We offer flexible, fully remote working from anywhere in the UK, and a culture that values automation, engineering excellence and continuous improvement.

Let's connect. Let's grow.
