ABOUT CHARGER LOGISTICS:
As a world‑class asset‑based carrier, Charger Logistics delivers freight on time and on budget. With a diverse fleet and deep operational expertise, we manage a wide range of freight solutions - dedicated lanes, specialized hauls, temperature‑controlled freight, and HAZMAT cargo for some of the most complex supply chains in North America.
ABOUT THE ROLE:
We are looking for a Carrier Sales Representative with experience in Spot Pricing to join our growing team. In this role, you will be responsible for sourcing and managing carrier capacity, negotiating rates, and ensuring efficient freight movement across North America.
This is an ideal opportunity for professionals who thrive in a fast-paced logistics environment and have a strong network of carriers.
You will source and manage carrier capacity, negotiate rates, and keep freight moving efficiently across North America. You will price spot freight in real time, benchmark lanes against live market data, and decide where we can win volume and where we walk away. Every quote you build is a live commercial decision — you will see the outcome of your pricing in win rates, margin, and repeat volume, usually within the same week.
WHAT YOU'LL DO — CARRIER SALES:
- Source, onboard, and manage a network of carriers to support freight demand
- Utilize load boards (DAT, Truckstop, etc.) to match freight with available capacity
- Negotiate competitive rates with carriers to maximize margins
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with carrier partners
- Coordinate shipment execution and ensure on-time delivery
- Communicate with carriers via phone, email, and system platforms (EDI/TMS)
- Identify opportunities to expand the carrier network and improve efficiency
- Price spot and project freight in real time, balancing win probability against target margin
- Benchmark lane rates using DAT RateView, Greenscreens, market indices, and internal historical data
- Build and maintain lane-level pricing models, cost floors, and margin targets by region, mode, and equipment type
- Turn around high-volume spot quotes on tight SLAs without sacrificing accuracy
- Track quote-to-book conversion, win/loss by customer and lane, and recommend pricing adjustments
- Monitor capacity cycles, fuel, seasonality, and lane imbalance, and flag market shifts before they hit margin
- Partner with carrier sales, operations, and account management so pricing reflects real cost, not theory
- Build reporting in Excel and BI tools that leadership uses to make capacity and commitment decisions
Requirements
- 2–4 years of experience in carrier sales, Spot Pricing, freight brokerage, logistics, sales, or a customer-facing role
- Strong understanding of North American lanes and market trends
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, large data sets); SQL, Power BI, or Tableau is a strong asset
- Experience using load boards and rate tools such as DAT, DAT RateView, Truckstop, or Greenscreens
- Proven negotiation and relationship-building skills
- Strong communication and problem-solving abilities
- Comfortable in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in MS Office and transportation systems
- Post-secondary education in Business, Supply Chain, or a related field is an asset
Benefits
- Competitive base salary + uncapped commission
- 401(k) retirement plan
- Clear career growth opportunities
- Comprehensive healthcare benefits
- Generous paid time off
- Structured onboarding and mentorship - we invest in your development
- Collaborative, energetic team environment
