About the Role
As the Insurance Authorization Specialist, you'll provide high-quality approval management and referral support to ensure absolute accuracy. Your mission is to streamline insurance authorization workflows for patient appointments and surgical procedures, replacing administrative delays with swift, precise coordination to ensure timely care delivery. This role is crucial for maintaining operational integrity and ensuring patients receive the seamless, hassle-free access to care they deserve.
Responsibilities
Process 60-80 insurance authorizations daily from insurance portals for patient referrals
Verify and confirm authorization status and availability for specific patient appointments with healthcare providers
Complete and submit authorization request forms for various insurance carriers
Perform data entry and administrative tasks related to insurance authorization and referral management
Identify and flag authorization discrepancies to ensure accuracy for patient appointments and surgery-related referrals
Collaborate with the insurance team to maintain data integrity, accuracy, and compliance
Communicate regularly with team members regarding authorization status and documentation requirements
Competencies and Qualifications
Must-Have
1-3 years of relevant experience in healthcare, insurance, or administrative roles
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to manage high-volume daily tasks independently and efficiently
Basic understanding of medical insurance, authorizations, and referral processes
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency navigating insurance portal systems
Nice-to-Have
Experience with ModMed electronic health record (EHR) software
Prior experience with insurance authorization, referral management, or healthcare administration
Knowledge of medical insurance terminology, coverage policies, and referral procedures
Experience with healthcare data entry systems
