About the Role
We are looking for a detail-oriented Optical Billing Assistant to support our billing team with accurate data entry, billing reconciliation, and order processing for optical products, including eyeglasses and contact lenses.
In this role, you’ll work across multiple systems to ensure patient order and billing information is accurately transferred, updated, and processed. You’ll be responsible for reviewing information between systems, entering payments and discounts, and identifying discrepancies before orders are billed.
Optical experience is highly preferred, but candidates with strong healthcare or medical billing experience and excellent attention to detail are also encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities
Review optical orders for eyeglasses and contact lenses and verify that information has transferred correctly between systems.
Compare data between the optical ordering system and billing system to identify missing or incorrect information.
Enter and update payments, discounts, and other billing details that do not automatically transfer between systems.
Process approximately 130 optical orders per day while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
Double-check calculations, discounts, payments, and other billing information before finalizing transactions.
Perform accurate and consistent data entry across multiple systems.
Identify discrepancies or missing information and coordinate with internal billing team members to resolve them.
Respond to internal questions regarding order or billing information as needed.
Maintain accuracy and consistency while working with high-volume billing data.
Competencies and Qualifications
Must-Have
1-3 years of relevant billing, data entry, or healthcare administrative experience
Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
Strong mathematical skills, including the ability to calculate percentages and discounts
Proficiency with data entry and computer systems
Ability to manage high-volume daily tasks independently and efficiently
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work collaboratively with internal team members
Nice-to-Have
Prior experience in optical retail, optical billing, or optical office environments
Experience with medical or healthcare billing systems
Experience with ModMed EHR software
Familiarity with Flexsys optical management system
General healthcare or medical office experience
