About FinAgra

FinAgra is building a new model for commercial agriculture in emerging markets. We combine financing, agronomy, technology and farm operations to turn underperforming farmland into professionally managed, productive farming businesses.

We are looking for a Global Lead Agronomist to own the technical agronomic foundation behind how FinAgra farms operate.

The Role

The Lead Agronomist will be the source of agronomic standards, growing protocols and best practices across FinAgra.

We are looking for someone with strong technical agronomy expertise who has experience evaluating, introducing, and integrating new agricultural technologies into real farming systems — for example within a seed company, crop-input company, agribusiness, technology provider or large farming organisation.

You will translate agronomic science, field experience and new technologies into practical systems that can be deployed consistently across many farms and geographies.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop and continuously improve FinAgra’s crop-growing SOPs and production protocols.

  • Lead land selection, crop selection and operational plan development processes.

  • Define agronomic best practices across crop planning, variety selection, nutrition, irrigation, crop protection and harvesting.

  • Evaluate new agricultural technologies, products and practices and determine where they can materially improve yield, quality, cost or operational reliability.

  • Design and supervise field trials and validation programs before new approaches are introduced at scale.

  • Work with seed, fertiliser, crop-protection, irrigation and agtech companies to identify and integrate the best available solutions.

  • Convert agronomic knowledge into clear, repeatable decision rules and workflows that can be incorporated into FinAgra’s digital platform.

  • Support local agronomy teams with complex technical decisions and continuously improve protocols based on field performance.

  • Build a structured knowledge base of agronomic standards, lessons learned and best practices across FinAgra markets.

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong professional background in agronomy, crop science, plant science, or a related field.

  • Significant experience working in commercial agriculture.

  • Experience introducing or integrating agricultural technologies, products or new agronomic practices into farming operations.

  • Experience at a leading seed, crop-input, agribusiness or agricultural technology company.

  • Strong understanding of how agronomic research translates into scalable commercial farming practices.

  • Experience designing trials, interpreting field data and making evidence-based agronomic decisions.

  • Ability to identify local agronomy talents across the world on the targeted markets.

  • Guide, train and manage them.

  • Ability to turn complex technical knowledge into practical, standardised protocols.

  • Comfortable working across different crops, countries and farming environments.

  • Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work with agronomists, operations teams, product teams and external technology partners.
