About the Role:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Tax Manager to oversee our transactional tax compliance process. In this role, you will manage multi-jurisdictional tax filings, resolve discrepancies through general ledger reconciliations, and serve as a key point of contact for tax audits. You will also collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize our tax systems and ensure the business complies with evolving sales, use, VAT, and excise tax regulations. The Tax Manager is a hands-on role.
The role will report to the Senior Tax Accounting Manager.
Responsibilities:
- Tax compliance – Review monthly, quarterly, and annual indirect tax returns (including Sales & Use, VAT, GST, and gross receipts taxes) to ensure timely and accurate filing.
- Account reconciliations – Reconcile indirect tax liability accounts during month-end closing, identify variances, and prepare necessary journal entries.
- Audit – Gather documentation, pull data transaction reports, and assist in managing state, local, or international tax audits and notices.
- Systems & automation – Maintain and update transaction tax software (e.g., Avalara) integrated with our ERP system to ensure accurate tax calculations.
- Exemption certificate management – Oversee the collection, validation, and maintenance of customer tax exemption certificates.
- Advisory support – Research complex indirect tax issues related to new product launches or business expansions and communicate findings clearly to stakeholders.
- Manage relationship with service providers. Lead role for state filings compliance.
- Provide recommendations to help streamline existing processes and procedures.
- Assist with special projects on an as needed basis.
- Protect organization's value by keeping information confidential.
- Build effective relationships within Dragos.
Qualifications:
- Eight to ten years of progressive indirect tax experience in a public accounting or a multi-national corporate tax department.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. state and local tax regulations (SALT), nexus rules, and/or international VAT/GST regimes.
- Experience working with ERP accounting packages (NetSuite preferred) and tax compliance engines (Avalara preferred).
- Experience working for a cybersecurity or SaaS company.
