About the project
As a Senior Data / Reporting Engineer, you will build and maintain data pipelines and reporting services that support a global merchant base. You will work primarily with Python, SQL, AWS, and Redshift, using your data engineering expertise to develop reliable and scalable reporting solutions.
You will also leverage Java and Python backend development skills when needed. This is not a pure backend role—your primary focus will be data engineering, SQL, pipelines, and reporting, with backend development as a complementary part of your responsibilities.
What you’ll do
- Build and maintain data pipelines and reporting services for financial, payment, settlement, and transaction reporting.
- Adapt and extend existing reports based on merchant requests, managing multiple priorities and short turnaround times.
- Contribute to the development of a new self-service Reporting API that enables merchants to generate reports autonomously.
- Work autonomously by taking ownership of assigned tasks, identifying blockers early, and driving work through completion.
- Participate in on-call rotations (approximately every four weeks) and respond to production incidents when needed.
- Communicate proactively about progress, risks, and blockers to support a fast-moving engineering environment.
- Integrate AI-assisted development tools, including Claude, into daily development workflows and automated processes for development and pull request reviews.
What makes you a great fit
- Bachelor´s Degree in Computer science, Engineering or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in data engineering and/or reporting, with a proven track record of delivering production-grade data solutions.
- Strong hands-on experience with Python and SQL, including building and maintaining data pipelines, reporting solutions, and data workflows.
- Hands-on experience with AWS data services, ideally including Redshift, in production environments.
- Ability to work autonomously, taking ownership of tasks from initial requirements through delivery while identifying dependencies and blockers early.
