The listing
Bio is a decentralized science protocol that helps launch and grow AI-driven biotech research. It enables scientists to raise funds, create value from their work, and distribute that value directly to their communities. Since 2023, Bio has directed over $50m to global researchers, offering an alternative to traditional pharma funding. Backed by investors like Binance Labs, Northpond Ventures, and Animoca Brands, Bio accelerates real-world therapeutics across longevity, brain health, fertility, psychedelic science, and more.
About the Role
We're looking for a Science Community Lead to build and nurture our community of scientists, researchers, and biotech enthusiasts. You'll be the connective tissue between our organization and the broader life sciences world - creating spaces where people want to hang out, learn, and collaborate.
This is a role perfect for someone who's passionate about science but wants to build community rather than spend their days at the bench. You'll own our Discord communities and be responsible for making them vibrant, welcoming, and genuinely useful to members.
What You'll Do
Build and manage our Discord communities - creating channels, setting up bots, designing onboarding flows, and keeping conversations active
Host community events like AMAs, journal clubs, voice chats, and Twitter/X Spaces
Create programming that keeps members engaged and coming back - whether that's highlighting member research, running workshops, or sparking discussions around hot topics
Connect people - identify emerging voices, facilitate introductions, and help members find collaborators
Moderate discussions and maintain a welcoming, inclusive environment
Track community health metrics and experiment with new formats to drive engagement
Who You Are
You have a Bachelor's or Master's in biology, biochemistry, biotech, or a related field
You're Discord-native - you've spent real time in communities, understand the culture, and ideally have moderated a server before
You're probably already active in online science communities (Twitter/X, Reddit, Discord, etc.) and genuinely enjoy connecting with people
You have strong writing skills - warm, accessible, and human (not corporate)
You're comfortable hopping on voice chats and hosting live events
You take initiative and aren't afraid to try things that might not work
You're organized enough to keep multiple channels, events, and initiatives running smoothly
Bonus Points
Experience with Discord bots (MEE6, Carl-bot, or custom)
You run a science meme account, podcast, newsletter, or have built an online following
Familiarity with the biotech/life sciences landscape - who the players are, what people care about
Experience organizing in-person or virtual events
Why Join Us
