About Our Clients
Our client is a fast-growing DTC supplement brand known for its Cocktail, a daily powder drink featuring ashwagandha, magnesium, L-theanine, and vitamin D3, alongside its Cortisol Cocktail line.
With an 8-figure run rate, a team of approximately 30 people, and a fully remote setup, they are now building its subscription business as a dedicated P&L.
They are looking for a Subscription Manager to own subscription growth and profitability end to end. Your goal is simple: convert as many customers as possible into subscribers at maximum profit, and retain those subscribers for as long and as profitably as possible.
This is a hands-on ownership role reporting directly to the founder/CEO. The strongest candidates will have personally built or scaled a DTC subscription program and can demonstrate measurable results through metrics such as subscription take rate, churn, retention, and offer-test performance.
Responsibilities
- Own and optimize the brand subscription offer, including pricing structure, discount logic, subscription take-rate tests, post-purchase subscription upsells, and retention incentives.
- Design and continuously improve the subscription journey to increase conversion while protecting long-term profitability.
- Own the customer-side subscription experience, including the subscription portal, cancellation flow, save offers, onboarding, billing reminders, dunning, and winback initiatives.
- Own the subscription technology setup, including the subscription app, checkout, payment provider, app costs, and potential platform migrations.
- Work with developers, vendors, agencies, and advisors to implement technical and operational improvements without needing to build everything yourself.
- Own subscription economics, including discount guardrails, LTV break-even points, and actual cohort performance versus the financial model.
- Analyze subscription performance and run structured tests to identify opportunities to improve take rate, retention, churn, and profitability.
- Build and scale the subscription function as its own P&L, taking responsibility for outcomes across the entire subscriber lifecycle.
- Make decisions based on measurable business impact, with success ultimately measured by 90-day subscription profit per new customer.
What Success Looks Like
Your primary success metric is 90-day subscription profit per new customer.
You will be expected to increase the number of customers who become subscribers, improve the profitability of the subscription offer, and keep subscribers active for longer.
This is a role for someone who can show evidence of having done this before—not someone looking to learn subscription growth on the job.
Requirements
- Proven experience personally building or scaling a DTC/e-commerce subscription program.
- Deep, hands-on expertise in subscription offer strategy, particularly pricing, discount structures, take-rate optimization, upsells, and retention incentives.
- Demonstrable results with subscription metrics such as take rate, churn, retention, LTV, or profitability.
- Strong understanding of how subscription offers affect both conversion and unit economics.
- Experience designing and executing experiments to improve subscription performance.
- Ability to own the customer subscription experience, including cancellation and save flows, dunning, onboarding, and winback.
- Comfortable managing subscription technology and external partners, including developers, vendors, agencies, and advisors.
- Strong analytical and commercial mindset with the ability to connect customer behavior to subscription P&L outcomes.
- Ownership mentality: you take responsibility for the result, not just the tasks assigned to you.
- Fast, concise communicator with strong attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work before submitting it.
- Fluent in English and comfortable working with an international, fully remote team.
Benefits
- Competitive salary based on experience.
- Fully remote position.
- Milestone-based bonuses tied to subscription revenue goals.
- All required work tools and AI tools paid for.
- Courses and professional development paid for.
- Gym benefit.
- Team events.
- Direct exposure to the founder/CEO and ownership of a newly established P&L function.
