Overview
Mariner is seeking strong candidates for a full-time, remote Analyst/Sr. Analyst, Trading position. In this pivotal role, you will manage and maintain internal asset allocation model portfolios and equity SMA strategies across client accounts. Your primary responsibility will be to implement portfolios, oversee portfolio drift and cash needs, ensure model alignment, and coordinate rebalancing activities to uphold the highest standards of portfolio management.
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong analytical and organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail, and a comprehensive understanding of portfolio management concepts and investment operations. As a key contributor, you will closely collaborate with internal teams to keep portfolios aligned with model objectives, while driving process enhancements and operational scalability initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and maintain internal asset allocation model portfolios and equity SMA strategies across multiple client accounts
Monitor client portfolios for model drift, cash needs, and allocation tolerance thresholds
Initiate and execute portfolio rebalancing activities to maintain alignment with assigned models
Oversee the seamless implementation of new accounts into model portfolios and investment strategies
Monitor portfolio activity to ensure adherence to investment guidelines and model objectives
Coordinate with trading, operations, and wealth teams to support portfolio maintenance and workflow efficiencies
Maintain and update accurate portfolio, account, and model data within portfolio management and trading systems
Provide operational oversight for UMAs and custodial platforms, including Fidelity, Schwab, and Pershing
Identify and implement opportunities for workflow improvement, automation, scalability, and operational efficiency within portfolio management
Support the ongoing development and enhancement of internal portfolio management processes and procedures
Develop advanced expertise in portfolio management systems and tools used across the organization
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related business field (preferred)
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in portfolio management, trading operations, investment management, or a similar field
Series 65 preferred; required for advanced positions
Experience with portfolio management, rebalancing, or trading systems (preferred)
Familiarity with trading/rebalancing tools, UMA platforms, and custodial platforms such as Fidelity, Schwab, and Pershing (preferred)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Deep understanding of portfolio management and investment concepts
Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Independent and self-motivated, with minimal supervision required
Effective organizational and time management skills with a sense of urgency
Strong technical aptitude and ability to quickly master new systems and technologies
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience analyzing large data sets
Critical thinking skills and sound decision-making abilities
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Collaborative approach to working with internal stakeholders and cross-functional teams
High level of professionalism and commitment to operational accuracy and consistency
