At CI&T, our rapid growth is fueled by the innovative solutions we create for our global clients. We are seeking a Cloud Architect to lead the redesign and migration of a data platform running on Azure. Today's infrastructure was built without a consistent standard; you will define the target architecture, get it validated with the client's enterprise architecture team, and drive the actual migration into Terraform, working hand-in-hand with the data team to move and validate every workload.
Responsibilities:
• Design the target architecture for an Azure-based data platform, aligned to the platform team's standards.
• Lead the migration of existing infrastructure — currently built without consistent standards — onto the new target architecture.
• Author and maintain the Terraform code needed to recreate infrastructure to the new standard, and support the data team through the cutover of each resource.
• Document the proposed architecture clearly enough to be reviewed and validated by the client's enterprise cloud architect.
• Present and defend architectural decisions in validation sessions with the client's enterprise architecture team, incorporating their feedback.
• Break the migration down into actionable work: create and maintain Jira tickets, write clear acceptance criteria, and track progress to completion.
• Coordinate with DevOps to ensure the proposed specifications align with existing platform standards and operational practices.
• Coordinate with the data team to plan, execute, and validate the migration of each application/workload onto the new infrastructure.
• Act as the connective tissue across DevOps, enterprise architecture, and the data team, resolving misalignments before they become delays.
Requirements:
• Hands-on cloud engineering/architecture experience, with deep, current expertise in Microsoft Azure.
• Strong, production-grade Terraform experience — writing, structuring, and maintaining IaC for real infrastructure, not just proof-of-concepts.
• Demonstrated experience designing or re-architecting cloud infrastructure for data platforms.
• Experience leading infrastructure migrations from an unstandardized or legacy state to a defined target architecture.
• Strong architecture documentation skills — able to produce artifacts that a client-side enterprise architect can review and approve.
• Comfortable owning delivery mechanics: writing Jira tickets, defining acceptance criteria, and tracking a multi-team workstream.
• Fluent English (C1) — this is a client-facing role requiring daily communication with a US-based enterprise architecture team.
• Strong cross-team collaboration skills — this role sits between DevOps, enterprise architecture, and data engineering, and needs to keep all three aligned.
Nice to Have:
• Experience with data platform components on Azure (e.g., Data Lake, Synapse, Snowflake, Data Factory).
• Prior experience in regulated or enterprise environments with formal architecture review/governance processes.
• Experience in the mortgage, lending, or financial services domain.
