You will contribute to building scalable, secure, and resilient systems that support businesses operating across international markets. The ideal candidate combines strong engineering fundamentals with an understanding of fintech workflows, financial transactions, data integrity, and operational reliability.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities

- Build services supporting business accounts, payments, cards, FX, and multi-currency transactions.
- Develop robust APIs and integrations with banking, payment, card, and financial infrastructure providers.
- Implement reliable transaction workflows covering authorization, processing, settlement, failure handling, and reconciliation.
- Design systems for idempotency, retries, webhooks, transaction state management, and failure recovery.
- Build and maintain financial ledgers, balances, transaction records, and reconciliation processes.
- Support multi-currency financial operations, including currency conversion and cross-border transaction workflows.
- Design data models and database structures that maintain accuracy, consistency, and auditability of financial information.
- Implement secure access controls, authentication, authorization, and appropriate protection of sensitive financial data.
- Build monitoring, logging, alerting, and operational tooling for critical financial workflows.
- Integrate third-party financial APIs while handling provider-specific behaviours, failures, rate limits, and inconsistencies.
- Optimize backend services and databases for performance, scalability, reliability, and availability.
- Write clean, testable, maintainable, and production-ready code.
- Develop unit, integration, and end-to-end tests for critical financial workflows.
- Troubleshoot production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement sustainable fixes.
- Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Operations, Compliance, and external partners to deliver features end-to-end.
- Contribute to architecture decisions, technical documentation, engineering standards, and platform strategy.
- Identify opportunities to automate operational processes and improve system reliability.
- Take ownership of technical deliverables from initial design through deployment and production support.
What Makes You a Great Fit
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with strong backend development expertise.
- Experience building fintech, payments, banking, financial infrastructure, or other transaction-heavy systems.
- Strong understanding of backend architecture, distributed systems, APIs, databases, queues, and production infrastructure.
- Hands-on experience integrating external payment, banking, card, FX, or financial service providers.
- Strong understanding of financial transaction concepts such as ledgers, reconciliation, balances, settlements, transaction states, and auditability.
- Practical experience implementing idempotency, retries, webhooks, failure recovery, and transaction consistency.
- Strong programming skills in a modern backend language such as TypeScript/Node.js, Java, Python, Go, or similar.
- Strong experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL and caching technologies such as Redis.
- Experience working with cloud platforms, APIs, queues, containers, and modern deployment practices.
- Strong understanding of application security, data protection, access control, and secure API design.
- Experience with automated testing, CI/CD, Git, monitoring, logging, and production operations.
- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills with a focus on reliability and data integrity.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership in a fast-moving, product-focused environment.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Comfortable working with ambiguity and making practical architectural and engineering decisions.
- Experience working on international, multi-currency, or cross-border financial products will be an advantage.
