Engagement Type: Independent Contractor (1099)
Primary Point of Contact: Product Manager and Practice Leader
Location: Remote (US-Based)
Opportunity Overview
We are seeking an experienced Game Design Subject Matter Expert (Visual & Systems) to serve as an independent consultant. In this capacity, the Contractor will drive the evolution and abstraction of our interactive learning modules and graphics systems.
The primary objective of this engagement is to take existing game engines and visual templates and evolve them into modular, scalable, and configurable frameworks. The Contractor will exercise independent professional judgment to establish visual standards, system abstractions, and technical specifications for interactive content.
Our Core Values:
- Self-Mastery: We hold a high bar for how we think, communicate, and improve.
- Ownership: We own outcomes, not just effort.
- Shared Destiny: We rise or fall together.
Scope of Work & Project Deliverables
The Contractor will be responsible for producing and executing the following key project deliverables:
1. Graphics & Systems Template Abstraction
- Audit existing game assets, UI systems, and visual layouts to architect reusable, modular graphics templates.
- Abstract visual components and core gameplay mechanics into configurable parameters for non-technical content creators.
- Consult with engineering and art teams to define specifications for scalable asset and content pipeline tooling.
2. Visual & Mechanical Design Integration
- Architect intuitive gameplay loops, progression frameworks, visual feedback loops, and reward structures for interactive modules.
- Establish and document comprehensive UI/UX standards, visual design patterns, and aesthetic consistency benchmarks across all game templates.
- Translate complex subject matter into clear visual communication frameworks.
3. Technical Strategy & Documentation
- Act as the Subject Matter Expert for game design and visual layout during client scoping and custom configuration reviews.
- Execute iterative visual design reviews, aesthetic audits, and usability assessments to ensure high production standards.
- Produce comprehensive documentation, including style guides, asset specifications, and technical configuration parameters.
Requirements
To successfully complete the deliverables for this engagement, the Contractor must possess:
- 4+ years of professional game design experience, specializing in visual design systems, UI/UX, or graphics template evolution (over pure standalone indie development).
- Demonstrated history of architecting or modularizing visual game assets, level templates, or UI framework systems.
- Deep technical expertise in visual communication, graphic asset pipelines, integration workflows, and user-centric design principles.
- Ability to work with complete autonomy, providing high-level technical direction and self-directed execution in a collaborative environment.
