Join the team transforming 150+ software companies with AI
ABOUT VALSOFT:
Valsoft is a global firm that acquires and grows mission-critical vertical market software companies. Since 2015, we have built a portfolio of 150+ companies across 30+ industries, comprising 4,000+ employees in over 20 countries.
We're building the infrastructure, tools, and talent to make every business in our portfolio AI-native. We're hiring across 150+ vertical market software businesses in the Valsoft portfolio. The right candidate will be matched to a specific business where they can have an outsized impact from day one and an opportunity to work across multiple businesses over time.
THE OPPORTUNITY:
Engineers at Valsoft go where the hardest problems are — embedded directly inside portfolio companies, working alongside operators, product teams, and customers to solve complex, messy, high-stakes challenges that can't be fixed from a distance.
As an AI Automation Engineer, you'll be the person who figures out how to make a business run better end to end. The product, internal ops, customer experience, back office — if it's manual and repeatable, it's your target. You're not here to consult. You're here to build and ship.
What you’ll do
- Embed inside portfolio companies to audit their workflows across every department and identify automation opportunities
- Translate messy, manual processes into clean, reliable automated systems — using AI, no-code, custom code, or whatever actually works
- Interview stakeholders, map processes, and diagnose root causes before writing a line of code
- Build and deploy automation across operations, sales, customer support, reporting, and internal tooling
- Own the full delivery cycle: scoping, building, shipping, measuring, and iterating
- Work directly with company leadership to prioritize what gets built and communicate ROI clearly
- Operate across multiple portfolio companies over time, building a repeatable playbook for what works
What we’re looking for
- Proven experience automating real business workflows — not just experiments, but things that shipped and stuck
- Fluency across automation tooling: you know when to use Make, Zapier, n8n, custom code, or an AI agent — and you pick the right one
- Strong technical foundation — you can build production-quality solutions, not just prototypes
- Exceptional problem-framing skills: you ask the right questions before jumping to solutions
- High comfort with ambiguity — you thrive when the brief is "this is costing us time but we don't know why"
- Strong communicator — you can explain what you built, why it works, and what it's worth to non-technical leadership
- Self-starter who moves fast and leaves systems better than you found them
What success looks like
- Within 30 days: You've completed a full workflow audit and have a clear, prioritized automation roadmap
- Within 90 days: At least two high-impact automations are live and driving measurable time or cost savings
- Within 6 months: You're a trusted resource with a track record of shipped solutions and real outcomes
- Long-term: You've built a repeatable playbook that defines how Valsoft operationalizes automation across its businesses — and you've got the metrics to prove it
