About the Role
The CTO will own technology strategy, architecture and engineering standards across the Group. This is a technical leadership role for someone who can operate across multiple businesses while remaining close to systems, architecture and engineering execution.
What you will be doing
Own architecture and major technical decisions across group products and platforms.
Review critical systems, architecture, infrastructure and code directly.
Set engineering standards across reliability, security, performance, testing and code quality.
Identify technical debt and architecture constraints and drive their resolution.
Improve engineering productivity, development speed and production reliability.
Decide where technology and infrastructure should be shared across Group businesses.
Recruit and assess senior engineers, technical leads and engineering leaders.
What you will need
Deep software engineering background with experience building and scaling production systems.
Strong knowledge of backend systems, APIs, databases, cloud infrastructure and distributed systems.
Experience making architecture decisions across multiple products or engineering teams.
Strong technical judgement and ability to challenge engineering decisions at implementation level.
Capable of building world-class engineering teams.
Still technically hands-on - able to review code, architecture, incidents and difficult engineering problems directly.
