Solvd Inc. is a rapidly growing AI-native consulting and technology services firm delivering enterprise transformation across cloud, data, software engineering, and artificial intelligence. We work with industry-leading organizations to design, build, and operationalize technology solutions that drive measurable business outcomes.

Following the acquisition of Tooploox, a premier AI and product development company, Solvd now offers true end-to-end delivery—from strategic advisory and solution design to custom AI development and enterprise-scale implementation. Our capability centers combine deep technical expertise, proven delivery methodologies, and sector-specific knowledge to address complex business challenges quickly and effectively.

We are looking for an experienced Cloud Engineer with strong hands-on expertise designing and implementing AWS cloud solutions. In this role, you will work directly with an enterprise payments platform client to architect scalable, secure, and resilient cloud environments, with a near-term focus on modernizing infrastructure as code by migrating Ruby-based CloudFormation to TypeScript.

You will support the client across their full cloud journey, from discovery and assessment through implementation, optimization, and knowledge transfer. This role blends deep AWS technical capability with strong software engineering fundamentals, communication, and delivery skills.

What you will do

Infrastructure as Code Modernization

  • Lead migration of existing CloudFormation IaC to TypeScript (AWS CDK).

  • Establish IaC patterns, module structure, testing strategy, and code review standards for the new toolchain.

  • Build CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions) for automated validation, plan/diff review, and safe deployment of infrastructure changes.

Architecture and Solution Design

  • Design and implement scalable, secure AWS architectures based on client requirements.

  • Assess current-state environments and propose effective migration and modernization strategies.

  • Build patterns and frameworks to support repeatable, high-quality delivery.

Project Delivery and Technical Leadership

  • Lead implementation of AWS services including compute, networking, storage, IAM, databases, and serverless.

  • Troubleshoot issues during delivery and guide teams in operational best practices.

  • Ensure performance, reliability, and security across deployed solutions, including multi-region and disaster recovery considerations.

Resilience Testing and Gamedays

  • Plan and facilitate gameday exercises to validate failover behavior, runbooks, and team readiness.

  • Design and execute fault injection experiments using AWS Fault Injection Service (FIS) to verify recovery objectives under realistic failure conditions.

  • Capture findings, drive remediation of gaps uncovered during testing, and iterate on experiment coverage over time.

Client Engagement and Advisory

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and validate solution designs.

  • Act as a trusted advisor on cloud strategy and modernization options.

  • Translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable guidance for both technical and non-technical audiences.

Knowledge Sharing and Internal Contribution

  • Mentor team members and contribute to internal learning initiatives.

  • Develop documentation, reusable assets, templates, and best practices for future projects.

  • Promote continuous improvement within Solvd's Cloud Engineering practice.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience migrating or refactoring legacy IaC (especially CloudFormation, to CDK or Terraform.

  • Advanced TypeScript experience, such as authoring reusable CDK constructs, publishing internal packages, or maintaining shared TypeScript libraries.

  • Experience with CI/CD for infrastructure, particularly GitHub Actions.

  • Familiarity with multi-region architectures, failover mechanics, and RPO/RTO tradeoffs.

  • Experience with chaos engineering or resilience testing, ideally using AWS FIS, and running gameday or DR drill exercises.

  • AWS professional certifications such as Solutions Architect Professional or DevOps Engineer Professional.
