Position: Senior Bookkeeper (Property & Mortgage Finance)
Salary: 1800 to 2300 AUD per month
Working Hours & Conditions: Mondays to Fridays; 9:00 AM- 6:00 PM AEST
Holidays : Australian Holidays and/or PH Holidays
OVERVIEW:
The company is looking for an experienced Senior Bookkeeper to become a key member of the finance team. This is a senior role requiring someone with direct experience in the Australian mortgage broking industry — including commission reconciliation, SMSF bookkeeping, and property investment portfolio management — alongside a strong working knowledge of Philippine accounting practices and statutory requirements. The right candidate will take ownership of the finance function and operate with a high degree of autonomy while collaborating closely with the Director, external accountants, and advisers across both Australia and the Philippines.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Liaise internally with the Director and Operations Manager; and externally with external accountants, financial advisers, lenders, and aggregators across Australia and the Philippines.
Australian Business Bookkeeping
- Manage day-to-day bookkeeping across multiple Australian business entities, including general ledger maintenance and chart of accounts management.
- Perform daily and monthly bank reconciliations, manage accounts payable and receivable, and process payroll and superannuation.
- Assist with BAS preparation, GST compliance, and cash flow monitoring.
- Prepare monthly management reports, financial statements, and budgeting and forecasting support.
- Liaise with external accountants and financial advisers to ensure records are accurate, compliant, and up to date.
Mortgage Brokerage Financial Administration
- Reconcile lender commission payments, trail commissions, and aggregator commission statements.
- Assist with settlement financial reporting and business performance reporting.
- Prepare financial information and KPI reports for management and external accountants.
SMSF Bookkeeping
- Record and reconcile SMSF-related transactions and investment accounts.
- Assist with SMSF property purchase accounting and prepare documentation for accountants.
- Maintain accurate SMSF records to meet compliance requirements.
Property Portfolio Management
- Manage bookkeeping across multiple investment properties and property entities, including loan account reconciliations and rental income and expense tracking.
- Track equity and loan balances and prepare financial reports across multiple property entities.
- Assist accountants during end-of-financial-year (EOFY) processes.
Philippine Entity Bookkeeping
- Manage bookkeeping records for the Philippine entity, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations.
- Support local payroll administration and work alongside Philippine accountants on financial reporting and compliance.
- Assist with BIR-related documentation and statutory requirements as required.
- Prepare monthly financial reports for management and ensure accurate financial reporting across both the Australian and Philippine entities.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum 5 years of bookkeeping experience, with at least 2 years supporting Australian businesses
- Previous experience working within an Australian mortgage brokerage — including commission reconciliation, trail commissions, and settlement processes
- Proven experience working with Self-Managed Super Funds (SMSFs)
- Experience managing property investment portfolios and bookkeeping across multiple property entities
- Demonstrated experience bookkeeping for a Philippine entity, including Philippine accounting practices, payroll, and statutory reporting (BIR)
- Strong understanding of Australian accounting standards, GST, BAS, payroll, and superannuation
- Experience managing multiple entities across different jurisdictions
- Excellent reconciliation, financial reporting, and attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills
- Ability to work autonomously while collaborating with stakeholders across Australia and the Philippines
TOOLS & SYSTEMS (NON-NEGOTIABLE):
- Xero — essential
- Microsoft Excel — advanced proficiency required
PREFERRED SKILLS (NICE TO HAVE):
- Experience with MYOB, QuickBooks Online, Dext / Hubdoc, Google Workspace, or Microsoft 365
- Experience with mortgage industry software, commission reconciliation platforms, or aggregator reporting systems
