OVERVIEW:
We’re seeking an experienced Senior Construction / Building Estimator to support both sales and hire lines of business across our modular manufacturing and construction projects.
Reporting to the National Estimating Manager, you will lead estimating activities across complex tenders, working closely with Sales, Design, Manufacturing and Construction to deliver high quality, competitive submissions.
You will be responsible for providing fast, accurate pricing, clearly defined scopes of work and seamless integration between factory and site components.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Independently lead complex tenders with a high degree of accuracy across full building scope.
- Prepare detailed construction-level estimates across all trades including structural, architectural, civil, services, preliminaries, and site works.
- Complete accurate quantity take-offs and trade breakdowns from construction documentation, BIM models, and drawings.
- Develop clear scopes of work, assumptions registers, exclusions, methodology notes, and tender clarifications.
- Identify scope gaps, missing information, trade interfaces, and buildability risks during the estimating process.
- Clearly delineate scope between factory-manufactured and site-based activities.
- Build and structure estimates within CostX including workbook setup, dimension groups, model mapping, and rate build-ups.
- Interpret technical specifications, tender documents, and construction drawings aligned with Australian construction standards and NCC requirements.
- Work collaboratively with Sales, Design, Manufacturing, and Construction teams to develop commercially viable submissions.
- Engage subcontractors and suppliers to validate pricing and scope coverage.
- Provide structured estimate handovers to operational delivery teams.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum 5+ years of relevant construction estimating experience within commercial, modular, or head contractor environments.
- Proven experience independently delivering detailed full-building estimates across all major trades.
- Advanced CostX proficiency including:
- workbook setup,
- dimension group structuring,
- model mapping,
- rate build-ups,
- estimate template creation,
- and first-principles estimating.
- Strong understanding of Australian construction methodologies, NCC requirements, trade sequencing, and buildability principles.
- Ability to independently assess incomplete documentation and determine required scope inclusions.
- Strong site-based construction experience with practical understanding of construction delivery, subcontractor coordination, and methodology.
- Demonstrated structured estimating methodology with strong attention to scope completeness and documentation quality.
- Confident communicator who proactively engages subcontractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
- Strong Autodesk Revit and drawing interpretation capability.
- Tertiary qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related discipline.
