The Power BI Analyst will develop, maintain, and improve Power BI dashboards and reporting solutions within an international organisation operating in the mining and construction sector. This offshore role will transform data from multiple business systems into accurate, meaningful, and accessible reporting to support operational and management decision-making, while working closely with Australian-based stakeholders to understand reporting needs, improve data quality and consistency, and identify opportunities to streamline and automate recurring reporting processes.
- Develop, maintain, and improve Power BI dashboards and reports to support business and operational decision-making.
- Work with internal stakeholders to understand reporting needs and translate business requirements into practical BI solutions.
- Extract, transform, and prepare data from multiple systems and data sources for reporting and analysis.
- Develop and maintain Power BI data models, relationships, calculations, and measures.
- Create and optimise DAX measures and Power Query transformations to support accurate and efficient reporting.
- Use SQL to extract, validate, analyse, and troubleshoot data where required.
- Monitor report performance, scheduled data refreshes, and ongoing dashboard maintenance.
- Review existing dashboards and reports to identify opportunities for improvement, consolidation, and automation.
- Investigate data discrepancies and reporting issues to maintain accurate and reliable reporting outputs.
- Analyse business data and communicate findings clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Support consistent reporting standards, definitions, and documentation across the business.
- Maintain accurate documentation relating to reports, data sources, calculations, and reporting processes.
- Other position-level duties as they arise.
Requirements
- 3–5 years’ experience in Power BI development, business intelligence, data analysis, reporting, or a similar role.
- Strong hands-on experience developing dashboards and reports using Microsoft Power BI.
- Strong working knowledge of Power BI Desktop, Power BI Service, DAX, Power Query, and data modelling.
- Demonstrated experience using SQL to extract, analyse, validate, and troubleshoot data.
- Experience working with multiple data sources and transforming business requirements into structured reporting solutions.
- Strong understanding of data modelling, relationships, calculations, measures, and data visualisation principles.
- Experience maintaining and improving existing dashboards, reports, and recurring reporting processes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with high attention to data accuracy and reporting quality.
- Ability to gather stakeholder requirements and translate business needs into practical technical solutions.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills, with the ability to explain data and reporting information clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and reporting deadlines.
- Ability to work independently within an offshore support model aligned to Australian business hours.
