OVERVIEW
The Senior Mortgage Broker Assistant plays a critical role in supporting Mortgage Brokers by managing end-to-end loan processing, ensuring compliance with Australian lending regulations, and delivering a seamless experience for clients, lenders, and internal stakeholders. This role requires strong industry knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple loan files simultaneously with minimal supervision.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Loan Processing & Administration
- Manage the end-to-end loan application process from submission to settlement
- Prepare, review, and lodge loan applications with lenders
- Conduct servicing calculations and preliminary assessments
- Ensure loan files are complete, accurate, and compliant with lender and regulatory requirements
- Track loan progress and proactively follow up with lenders, clients, conveyancers, and other third parties
Client & Stakeholder Support
- Act as a primary point of contact for clients throughout the loan process
- Provide clear, professional updates to clients regarding application status
- Liaise with lenders, valuers, solicitors, and settlement agents
- Support Mortgage Brokers with client appointments, documentation, and post-settlement follow-ups
Compliance & Quality Assurance
- Ensure compliance with NCCP, ASIC, and responsible lending obligations
- Maintain accurate client records and documentation in CRM systems
- Assist with audits, compliance checks, and process improvements
- Stay up to date with lender policies, credit guidelines, and industry changes
Process Improvement & Team Support
- Identify opportunities to improve workflows and operational efficiency
- Mentor and support junior broker assistants where required
- Contribute to the development of internal processes and best practices
Requirements
Essential
- Minimum 3–5 years’ experience as a Mortgage Broker Assistant or similar role within the Australian mortgage industry
- Strong understanding of Australian lending products, policies, and processes
- Experience working with multiple lenders and aggregators
- High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple loan files and meet deadlines
- Proficiency in CRM systems and loan lodgement platforms
Desirable
- Certificate IV in Finance and Mortgage Broking or equivalent
- Experience supporting high-volume or complex loan portfolios
- Prior experience mentoring junior staff
