About the Role
This is a senior individual contributor role on a small integrations team, building the backend services and data-heavy distributed systems behind a cold-chain risk-management platform used by pharma and perishables shippers worldwide. You will own end-to-end partner data flows, from multi-vendor IoT ingestion and normalization through warehousing, observability, and on-call support, with direct impact on shipment reliability and product loss prevention.
What You'll Do
Design and build backend services that contextualize IoT monitoring data and quantify shipment risk in real time.
Own external partner-facing operational data integrations across APIs, webhooks, queues, carrier feeds, sensors, and vendor systems.
Build predictive systems for on-time, in-full (OTIF) outcomes and automate exception-handling workflows.
Maintain production ownership of partner data pipelines, including normalization, warehousing, observability, and on-call response.
Contribute to event-driven architectures using messaging systems such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.
Deploy and operate containerized services on cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure) using Docker and Kubernetes.
Collaborate closely with leadership and cross-functional teammates, shipping high-leverage work at startup pace.
What We're Looking For
5 or more years of backend engineering experience building scalable, data-intensive distributed systems.
Hands-on proficiency in Python and TypeScript/Node.js; strong SQL and relational data modeling skills.
Primary experience owning external partner-facing operational data integrations (not internal-only, DevOps, ETL-only, or general full-stack work).
Experience with IoT data ingestion, processing, and contextualization.
Solid grasp of API design and development (REST and/or gRPC).
Experience with event-driven architectures and messaging systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar).
Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes, and deploying services on AWS, GCP, or Azure.
Strong software engineering practices: testing, CI/CD, monitoring, and observability.
Ability to operate independently as a senior IC on a lean team.
Domain knowledge in logistics, cold chain, supply chain, or IoT is a strong plus.
Experience with NoSQL databases, ETL pipelines, or data security and privacy considerations in regulated industries is a plus.
Prior experience at a growth-stage startup is a plus.
Compensation & Benefits
Base salary: $130,000 to $160,000 USD annually, plus equity and a cash bonus. Visa sponsorship is available.
Location
Fully remote, US-based.
