The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
As a Sales Specialist for Design Solutions within the Industrial Adhesives & Tapes Division (IATD) at 3M in France, Spain, and Portugal you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world.
Here, you will make an impact by:
- Leading technical specification (“design-in”) activities within customers’ R&D centers to ensure the specification of 3M Adhesives and Tapes solutions in France and Iberia.
- Driving growth with a primary focus on automotive accounts, while also developing opportunities in other high-growth sub-segments such as medical devices, robotics, energy storage, etc.
- Establishing and maintaining strong relationships with R&D engineers, designers, and key decision-makers at OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers by understanding their needs and proposing tailored design solutions.
- Identifying and developing new business opportunities in automotive and selected high-growth sub-segments through account targeting, pipeline development, and specification-based selling.
- Conducting competitive and technology intelligence to stay informed about industry trends, technologies, market players, and application needs in order to effectively position 3M design solutions.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth technical integration and optimal support during the design, validation, and implementation phases of 3M adhesive solutions.
- Achieving and exceeding sales objectives through effective pipeline, project, and CRM management across the France, Spain, and Portugal territory.
- Developing and strengthening your product knowledge and understanding of design principles in order to effectively promote 3M technologies and innovations in adhesives and tapes.
- Presenting technical concepts and facilitating design workshops to influence specifications and demonstrate product advantages.
- Participating in industry events, conferences, and customer innovation days to expand your network, identify opportunities, and generate leads.
- Updating CRM tools daily for design activities, projects, and business opportunities.
- Collaborating with marketing, product development, and cross-functional teams to share customer feedback and contribute to the development of new solutions.
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M is looking for candidates who meet following minimum requirements:
- Engineering degree or master’s degree in engineering sciences (mechanical engineering, materials science, chemistry, or an equivalent technical field)
- Proven experience in technical sales, business development, or application engineering in the automotive industry and/or relevant high-growth industrial segments
- Demonstrated experience in securing “design-in” projects or approved specifications with automotive manufacturers (OEMs), Tier 1 suppliers, or comparable industrial customers
- Demonstrated ability to develop business across multi-country territories, ideally including France and/or Iberia
- Proven experience working with cross-functional teams (marketing, R&D, production, supply chain) to support new product introductions
- Good knowledge of major automotive manufacturers, Tier 1 suppliers, and the broader automotive supply chain
- Knowledge of advanced materials, assembly solutions (adhesives and tapes), NVH, thermal management, lightweight structures, or related applications in design engineering is an advantage
- Experience or understanding of high-growth segments such as medical devices, drones, robotics, energy storage, or industrial automation is an advantage
- Experience in an international, innovation-driven environment
- Fluency in English as well as French or Spanish
Job specifics:
- Job scope: Spain, Portugal, and France (with eventual additional support for other countries of South Europe Region in specific cases)
- Work location: This role has on-field working model, with the employee hierarchical attribution to the office at 3M Center, located in Madrid or in Lisbon.
- Travel expectations: May include up to 40% domestically and internationally
- Working pattern: full time
