The Senior Accounting Manager provides enterprise-level leadership over global accounting operations, ensuring the integrity, scalability, and compliance of financial reporting across all entities. This role owns complex accounting matters, drives accounting policy and control frameworks, and serves as a strategic partner to executive finance leadership. The Senior Controller ensures the organization is audit-ready, supports business growth and expansion, and leads high-impact initiatives that strengthen financial governance and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

Technical Accounting Expertise

  • Serve as the subject-matter expert for complex, technical accounting areas including lease accounting (ASC 842), derivatives (FX spots, forwards, swaps, and options), deferred contract costs, capitalized internal-use software, and foreign currency translation and remeasurement.

  • Provide expert technical guidance on significant or non-routine transactions, business model changes, and market expansions to support accurate accounting classification and treatment.

  • Review and ensure accurate treatment of interest and dividend income on marketable securities, including reconciliations and investment accounting.

  • Calculate and reconcile gains and losses on derivatives throughout the period, ensuring proper accounting treatment.

  • Oversee the opening balance process for acquired entities, including purchase price allocation (PPA) entries and supporting analysis for M&A activities.

  • Support operational ledger development for salary and tax payments as part of a cross-functional initiative—design and review journal entry events, understand the underlying processes, and advise on accounting logic as AI-driven automation is implemented.

Month-End and Quarterly Close

  • Prepare the consolidated statement of cash flows, including the proper classification of operating, investing, and financing activities and reconciliation of significant changes

  • Calculate and reconcile gains and losses on derivatives; prepare supporting analysis and documentation for financial statements and footnote presentation.

  • Review lease accounting positions under ASC 842, including lease modifications, impairment assessments, and prepare lease accounting disclosures for consolidated financial statements.

  • Review and post deferred contract cost adjustments, including amortization of cumulative recognized balances and any impairment assessments.

  • Review capitalized internal-use software accounting, including capitalization decisions, amortization calculations, and impairment testing.

  • Review marketable securities reconciliations, including cost basis, fair value adjustments, unrealized gains/losses, and other comprehensive income (OCI) impacts.

  • Calculate and record OCI translation adjustments, and prepare supporting documentation.

  • Support any M&A activity, closing activities and accounting treatments within the quarter.

External Audits and Regulatory Oversight

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors and advisors on all assigned technical accounting matters, coordinating audit work and resolving findings in a timely manner.

  • Proactively identify and assess accounting and regulatory changes in relevant areas, and communicate required implementation steps to leadership.

  • Ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with U.S. GAAP for all technical accounting areas in consolidated financial statements and statutory reporting.

Process Improvement and System Optimization

  • Drive continuous improvement of close processes, data quality, and reporting cycles for assigned technical accounting areas to support scalability and speed.

  • Partner with Finance and Product teams on system enhancements and accounting automation related to derivatives, leases, and other technical areas.

Desired skills and competencies

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or equivalent certification required.

  • 12+ years of progressive experience in accounting, financial reporting, or technical accounting roles within complex, multinational environments.

  • Deep expertise in U.S. GAAP with specialized knowledge of ASC 842 (leases), derivative accounting, foreign currency translation, and revenue recognition.

  • Proven experience implementing and executing complex accounting treatments for derivatives, M&A activities, and intercompany transactions.

  • Strong understanding of cross-border payments, regulatory requirements, and compliance obligations related to global payroll and payment processing.

  • Expertise in financial statement audit management and the ability to communicate technical accounting matters to external and internal stakeholders.

  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and technical judgment skills.

  • Ability to operate independently with strong accountability and initiative.

  • Excellent communication and documentation skills for complex technical matters.

  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and adaptable in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.

  • Our salary range reflects gross base salary. For commercial roles with commission eligibility, this figure represents On-Target Earnings (OTE), inclusive of base salary and target commission.

  • Salary ranges are quoted in USD as a consistent global reference. Your offer will be localized to your country's currency using a market-aligned conversion.

  • Final pay is based on objective, job-related criteria including experience, skills, and location.
