API terms
Last updated: 6 October 2026
These terms cover StillOpen's machine interfaces: the JSON API under
/api/v1/, the MCP server at /api/v1/mcp and the
A2A agent at /api/v1/a2a (together, "the interfaces"). They
are offered by VS IT Ltd., registered in Bulgaria, which operates
stillopen.work. By using the interfaces you accept these terms.
"StillOpen data" means the job listings, company information, statuses, evidence types, timestamps, metadata and any other information returned by the interfaces.
Free use
Free use is for individuals using StillOpen for their own non-commercial benefit: job seekers, developers of non-commercial open-source projects, researchers, students, and journalists reporting on the job market. No key and no account, within the published limits and these terms:
/api/v1/jobs— 60/minute per IP/api/v1/jobs/{id}— 60/minute per IP/api/v1/jobs/status— 60/minute per IP/api/v1/mcp— 120/minute per IP/api/v1/a2a— 120/minute per IP/api/v1/a2a/rest— 120/minute per IP- Across all of them: 10 requests/second per IP, bursts of 40
A refused call returns HTTP 429 with a Retry-After header.
Waiting that long is enough.
Business use needs a licence
Any use by or for a business or other organisation needs a written licence from us, whether or not anything is charged for. That includes using StillOpen data, or answers built from it:
- in a product or service offered for payment, or supported by advertising;
- in a product or service, free or paid, that an organisation runs for its customers, users or staff — for example a job board, a recruiting tool, or an AI assistant;
- for an organisation's internal purposes, such as recruiting, market research or business decisions.
Sending readers to a listing's page on stillopen.work is always free. A licence can also cover volume above the free limits and, when it is available, notification when listings you hold close. Write to support@stillopen.work.
Attribution is required, including for free use
Wherever StillOpen data, or anything built from it, is shown to a person:
- link each listing to its
canonical_urlon stillopen.work; - show the words "Data provided by StillOpen", linked to https://stillopen.work;
- show the StillOpen logo where the medium allows it.
Every response carries an attribution field with the text,
link, logo and these terms. Where your output is not shown to a person —
one system passing data to another — keep that field with the data and do
not remove or alter it.
Showing and transforming listings
You may format, summarise, translate, adapt for accessibility, or extract fields from an individual listing when presenting it to a person, provided the result does not misrepresent the listing or its evidence and carries the attribution above.
AI and agent use
If an AI system, agent or other automated service uses StillOpen data:
- it must keep the evidence types distinct.
ats_verifiedandboard_verifiedare checks we made;employer_board,employer_attestedandage_inferredare not, and must never be described as verified; - it must give the date beside any statement that a listing is open, and must not imply that StillOpen checked something it did not;
- it must keep the attribution visible wherever the data reaches a person;
- it must not query the interfaces in order to build or keep up a copy of the catalogue.
Keeping copies
You may keep a listing a particular person saved or was shown, for as long as you provide that feature to them, provided you re-check its status through the interfaces before presenting it as open again, and do not use such copies to build a substitute catalogue. Any other copy may be kept only for as long as needed to answer the request in hand, and never for longer than 24 hours.
What is not allowed
Unless a written licence from us says otherwise, you may not:
- build a product that competes with StillOpen, or use the interfaces to scrape, build a database of, or otherwise keep a permanent copy of StillOpen data;
- copy, translate, modify or create a derivative work of the catalogue or any substantial part of it, or sell, lease, lend, convey, distribute, publicly display or sublicense it to any third party — beyond showing individual listings to a person as described above;
- reverse engineer the service, or attempt to extract its source code;
- make excessive requests, spread calls across many addresses to get around the limits, or do anything else intended to degrade the service;
- probe for or exploit vulnerabilities, get around access controls, overload the service, or use the interfaces to attack or harm any other system;
- present StillOpen data as your own, or otherwise misrepresent where it came from;
- remove, obscure or alter any copyright, trademark or other proprietary notice, or falsify or delete any StillOpen label or notice, including evidence types, dates and the attribution;
- present a listing as verified, open or current when its evidence does not say so.
Law and third-party rights
You will comply with all applicable law, regulation and third-party rights. You will not use the interfaces to encourage or promote illegal, unlawful or fraudulent activity, or the violation of anyone's rights.
Changes and versions
StillOpen and its interfaces change and improve continuously. We reserve
the right to add, modify or remove endpoints and features, deprecate old
API versions, and change request and response formats and rate limits.
Within a versioned path such as /api/v1/ we aim to keep
existing fields stable and put breaking changes in a new version. Where
reasonably practicable we announce material changes and deprecations in
the published documentation in advance. We may update these terms; the
date at the top shows the current version.
Availability
We make no commitment to uptime at present. The interfaces may occasionally be unavailable or return errors as we develop the product.
No reliance, and limits on our liability
StillOpen reports what it observed and when. It does not guarantee that any listing is accurate, complete, suitable or still open when you receive it: answers report the evidence we hold at the time of the call, they are not a live check at that moment, and a listing can close, or its details change, between our last check and your read. The interfaces and StillOpen data are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind.
We are not responsible for decisions made or actions taken in reliance on StillOpen data, including applications made to employers. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, revenue, data, opportunities or goodwill, arising from use of the interfaces. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
Suspension and termination
We may suspend or restrict access at once if we reasonably believe the terms have been broken, the interfaces are being abused or our limits circumvented, or a use creates a security, operational or legal risk to StillOpen or others. Serious or repeated violations will result in a permanent ban from StillOpen's services. Where it is reasonably practicable we may give notice and a chance to put things right first, but we are not obliged to.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Bulgaria, and the courts of Bulgaria have jurisdiction over any dispute about them or the interfaces. If you use the interfaces as a consumer, you also keep the protection of any mandatory consumer law of the country you live in.
How the data is gathered: How it works. How to call the interfaces: For AI agents and /llms.txt.
