Looking for Philippines-based candidates
Job Role: Bookkeeper
Compensation range: $1,500 - $2,200 AUD/month
Engagement type: Independent Contractor Agreement
Work Schedule: This role is expected to align with the AU business hours (approx. 9 AM - 5 PM, Monday to Friday) for collaboration, but as a contractor, you’ll have flexibility in how you manage your time.
Who We Are: At Hunt St, we help Australian companies hire top remote talent in the Philippines. For this role, you will be engaged directly by the client as an independent contractor. We are not an outsourcing agency. All of our roles are 100% remote so you'll be able to work from home.
Who The Client Is: A well-established Australian accounting firm with over 40 years of experience, providing tailored taxation, bookkeeping, payroll, business advisory, and financial management services to individuals and small to medium-sized businesses. The firm is committed to building long-term client relationships by delivering practical advice and personalised support to help clients achieve their financial goals.
Role Overview: We are seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to support our clients' day-to-day compliance needs, with a strong focus on Xero and BAS/IAS preparation. This role suits someone who applies sound judgement to material issues rather than getting caught up chasing immaterial discrepancies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform bookkeeping and account reconciliations in Xero for a portfolio of SME clients
- Prepare and lodge BAS and IAS statements
- Apply judgement to identify and resolve material discrepancies, escalating only where genuinely necessary
- Send out weekly ASIC compliance documents to clients
- Maintain organised, up-to-date client files and records
- Liaise with clients and the accounting team on bookkeeping matters as needed
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years' bookkeeping experience
- Expert-level proficiency in Xero
- Strong knowledge of BAS/IAS preparation and lodgement
- Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills
- Sound judgement — able to distinguish material issues from minor, immaterial ones
- Comfortable using FYI and Microsoft 365
- Able to work autonomously in a remote environment
- Demonstrated high academic grades in numeracy and literacy
Work Arrangement & Expectations:
This is a remote role that will be set up as an independent contractor engagement.
To ensure alignment and transparency, successful candidates will be expected to:
- Disclose any existing ongoing roles or client work
- Reflect this engagement on their LinkedIn profile (clearly marked as “Independent Contractor”)
