Job Role: Finance Officer
Work Schedule: AU business hours (approx. 9 AM - 5 PM, Monday to Friday)
Compensation range: Approx. PHP 60,000 + Allowances / Monthly

Role Overview: We're looking for an experienced Finance Officer to support the organisation's day-to-day financial operations while ensuring accurate reporting, compliance, and strong financial controls. This role is ideal for someone with solid bookkeeping and accounting experience who enjoys working with structured processes, managing financial records, and collaborating with different stakeholders. You'll work closely with the finance leadership team to assist with reconciliations, reporting, budgeting support, payroll coordination, and maintaining accurate financial records across the organisation.
The ideal candidate is highly organised, proactive, and comfortable managing multiple priorities while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process day-to-day financial transactions including accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Prepare, issue, and manage customer invoices, ensuring timely and accurate billing and collections.
- Perform regular bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation
- Assist with monthly management reports, financial reporting, and budget tracking
- Support payroll processing and maintain payroll-related records
- Assist with month-end and year-end financial close activities
- Prepare journals, accruals, and general ledger reconciliations
- Support external accountants and auditors by preparing financial information and documentation
- Maintain accurate filing systems and ensure financial records remain audit-ready
- Monitor cash flow and highlight discrepancies or unusual transactions
- Assist with financial analysis and reporting for leadership as required
- Ensure compliance with internal financial policies and Australian accounting practices
- Provide finance and administrative support across various operational departments when required
- Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and operational efficiency
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a Finance Officer, Bookkeeper, Assistant Accountant, or similar finance role
- Strong bookkeeping and accounting knowledge
- Experience using cloud accounting software such as Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks, or similar
- Strong understanding of bank reconciliations, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger management
- Experience preparing financial reports and supporting month-end processes
- High level of accuracy and exceptional attention to detail
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
- Ability to manage confidential financial information with integrity
- Comfortable working independently in a fully remote environment
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, reconciliations, and financial reporting
- Proactive mindset with the ability to identify and solve problems independently
Nice to Have
- Experience using expense management platforms such as Weel or similar tools.
- Previous experience working within a church, faith-based organisation, ministry, or similar not-for-profit environment, with an understanding of church operations, governance, and community engagement
- Experience working collaboratively within a team environment, with a proactive and supportive approach to achieving shared goals.
- Experience supporting Australian businesses or not-for-profit organisations
- Knowledge of Australian accounting standards and GST requirements
- Payroll processing experience
- Experience working with budgeting and cash flow forecasting
- Exposure to Microsoft Dynamics, Power BI, or financial reporting tools
- Accounting qualification or ongoing accounting studies
- Experience improving finance processes or implementing new systems
