Job Role: Intermediate Accountant
Compensation range: $1,800 AUD - $2,500 AUD / Monthly
Engagement type: Independent Contractor Agreement
Work Schedule: This role is expected to align with the AU business hours (approx. 9 AM - 5 PM, Monday to Friday) for collaboration, but as a contractor, you’ll have flexibility in how you manage your time.
Who We Are: At Hunt St, we help Australian companies hire top remote talent in the Philippines. For this role, you will be engaged directly by the client as an independent contractor. We are not an outsourcing agency. All of our roles are 100% remote so you'll be able to work from home.
Who The Client Is: Our client is a well-established Australian accounting firm with more than four decades of experience supporting individuals and small to medium-sized businesses. The practice provides tax, accounting, bookkeeping, and financial guidance, combining extensive industry experience with a practical, client-focused approach.
Role Overview: Our client is looking for a CPA-qualified Intermediate Accountant to prepare tax returns, financial statements, and supporting workpapers for its SME and individual client base.
This role is suited to an accountant with strong Australian public practice experience who can manage a varied workload, meet deadlines, and produce accurate work while operating autonomously from home.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare Australian tax returns for individuals, including salary and wage earners, trusts, companies, and SMSFs
- Prepare financial statements and supporting workpapers
- Compile clear and organised lists of client queries for the Client Manager
- Escalate complex tax or accounting matters when appropriate
- Maintain accurate and well-organised client files using FYI and Xero
- Manage a varied workload independently and complete assigned work within deadlines
Requirements
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
- Minimum 5 years of experience supporting or working with an Australian accounting firm
- Solid understanding of Australian tax compliance requirements
- Comfortable working with Xero, FYI, and Microsoft 365
- Strong attention to detail and time-management skills
- Ability to work independently in a remote, home-based role
- Demonstrated high academic grades in numeracy and literacy
