Job Role: Senior Bookkeeper
Compensation range: $1,700 AUD - $2,000 AUD / Monthly
Engagement type: Independent Contractor Agreement
Work Schedule: This role is expected to align with the AU business hours (approx. 9 AM - 5 PM, Monday to Friday) for collaboration, but as a contractor, you’ll have flexibility in how you manage your time.

Who The Client Is: Our client is an established Australian accounting and advisory practice providing bookkeeping, tax, and business support services to businesses across various stages of growth. The firm takes a practical and personalised approach, helping clients maintain accurate financial records, improve business processes, and make informed decisions through reliable accounting support.
Role Overview: Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Bookkeeper to support their Australian accounting practice remotely. The successful candidate will manage bookkeeping activities in Xero, including payroll, reconciliations, month-end adjustments, and journal entries, while maintaining accurate client records and assisting with general practice administration.
This role is ideal for a detail-oriented bookkeeping professional who enjoys working with systems and processes and is looking for a long-term opportunity to apply their expertise in an Australian business environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage bookkeeping tasks using Xero, ensuring financial records are accurate and up to date
- Process payroll-related tasks and maintain payroll records
- Prepare and post month-end adjustments and journal entries
- Perform account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies
- Review and clean up financial data within accounting systems
- Assist with maintaining organised client records and documentation
- Prepare and send documents for client signatures and approvals
- Support general accounting practice administration tasks as required
- Assist with improving bookkeeping processes and maintaining data accuracy
Requirements
- Minimum of 4 years’ proven experience as a Bookkeeper, Senior Bookkeeper, or similar accounting role
- Strong hands-on experience using Xero; Xero certification is highly preferred
- Solid understanding of bookkeeping principles and financial record management
- Experience with payroll processing, month-end adjustments, and journal entries
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to identify and resolve discrepancies independently
- Comfortable working with systems, data cleanup, and administrative processes
- Strong organisational and time-management skills
- Ability to work independently in a remote, home-based environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

This is a remote role that will be set up as an independent contractor engagement.
