Position Overview

We are seeking a highly qualified z/OS Network Systems Administrator to join our F500 client support technology team. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience supporting IBM z/OS networking, mainframe systems administration, connectivity, file transfer, messaging, and network operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on support and troubleshooting for IBM z/OS Communication Server, including VTAM, TCP/IP, TN3270, FTP, Policy Agent, and SMTP.
  • Perform day-to-day administration, navigation, and operational support within the z/OS mainframe environment.
  • Utilize TSO, ISPF, JCL, VSAM, and catalog management for system administration and troubleshooting.
  • Execute and interpret z/OS and JES2 operator commands related to network and system operations.
  • Develop automation and operational tooling using TSO/REXX, TSO/CLIST, or SAS.
  • Configure and support mainframe network connectivity for MQ, DB2, CICS, and related middleware.
  • Support and troubleshoot end-to-end file transmission, printing, and email infrastructure.
  • Develop and maintain monitoring, reporting, troubleshooting, and auditing tools for network operations.
  • Collaborate with Enterprise Network Services and Security Platforms teams on network design, upgrades, implementations, and verification activities.
  • Participate in infrastructure troubleshooting, operational improvements, and technology modernization initiatives.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Hands-on experience with IBM z/OS Communication Server.
  • Strong knowledge of VTAM, TCP/IP, TN3270, FTP, Policy Agent, and SMTP.
  • Practical experience working in a z/OS mainframe environment.
  • Proficiency with TSO, ISPF, JCL, VSAM, and z/OS catalog management.
  • Experience with z/OS and JES2 operator commands.
  • Scripting/programming experience with REXX, CLIST, or SAS.
  • Experience configuring and troubleshooting connectivity involving MQ, DB2, CICS, and middleware.
  • Experience supporting file transfer, printing, and email/messaging infrastructure.
  • Ability to develop or maintain network monitoring, reporting, and operational tools.
  • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Experience with Broadcom/CA NetMaster NCL programming.
  • Experience with Broadcom/CA NetMaster.
  • Experience with PKWARE PKZip.
  • Experience with IBM Sterling Connect:Direct.
  • Experience with Secure Proxy technologies.
  • Participation in Disaster Recovery (DR) tests and infrastructure continuity events.
  • Experience advising application development teams on connectivity requirements and application-level network issues.
  • College degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Knowledge of AI concepts, methodologies, and tools applicable to mainframe/network operations.

Preferred Candidate Profile

The successful candidate will be a hands-on z/OS networking professional who can independently troubleshoot complex mainframe connectivity issues, automate operational processes, collaborate with enterprise network and security teams, and support critical F500 production environments.
