About us
Whizz rents e-bikes to delivery couriers in New York on a monthly subscription. We have our own service shops around the city, a main warehouse in New Jersey, and we run the whole operation on an ERP system we built ourselves. Bikes break, we fix them, and that means a constant flow of spare parts through our warehouses.
Right now nobody is fully in charge of that flow. Purchasing, stock counts and warehouse work are split between the mechanics, the ops team, logistics and IT. We want one person to take the inventory function and run it properly.
You will work directly with the CEO and the operations director.
What you'll do
- Get stock records to match reality, both at the Jersey warehouse and in the city shops. Set up regular counts and keep them honest.
- Set min and max levels for parts and plan purchasing around them. Our mechanics run out of parts far too often.
- Write down how the warehouse actually works: receiving, transfers, write-offs, stock counts. Then get people to follow it.
- Launch our used parts program. We collect expensive components from repairs, rebuild them in Jersey and put them back on bikes. The process is designed, it needs someone to make it happen.
- Manage the inventory team.
- Work with our developers on the warehouse part of our ERP. You decide what it has to do and check that it works.
What we'd like to see in your first six months
- Stock records match the shelves, with a monthly check that proves it.
- Minimum and maximum levels set for all key parts, and no more weekly emergencies over missing parts.
- Rebuilt parts going back into service, and fewer new parts bought.
Requirements
- 3+ years in inventory or warehouse management. Spare parts, automotive, service or e-commerce would suit us best.
- You have worked with an ERP or a WMS and can tell us what was wrong with it.
- Confident with Excel or Google Sheets. You dig into the numbers yourself instead of waiting for a report.
- Experience writing processes and getting teams to actually use them.
- You use AI tools in your everyday work.
- English and Russian. Our shop teams work in English, management and IT in Russian.
- At least 4 hours of your working day overlapping with New York.
Nice to have: weighted average or FIFO inventory costing, experience with bike or scooter fleets, setting up cycle counts from scratch.
