With our business growing rapidly and an expanding client base, we’re eager to onboard a seasoned tester who can help us consistently meet increasing demands with exceptional technical quality. The successful candidate will demonstrate not only technical expertise but also a proactive approach to identifying potential issues early, ensuring that our products exceed client expectations in functionality, performance, and reliability. This role has a salary range of between 280,000 - 450,000 (ZAR) annually.
Key Responsibilities
- Thoroughly test developed web applications against specified requirements across a variety of desktop browsers and mobile devices, ensuring cross-platform compatibility and a seamless user experience across different environments.
- Diligently record, monitor, and manage defects to ensure clarity, traceability, and timely resolution, while maintaining clear communication with development teams and stakeholders.
- Create and maintain comprehensive manual test documentation, including test plans, test cases, step-by-step test scenarios, manual test scripts, and defect reports to support repeatability and knowledge sharing within the team.
- Collaborate closely with developers and stakeholders to resolve issues effectively, provide clear feedback, and participate in defect triage meetings to prioritise issues based on impact and urgency.
- Track test progress in line with release schedules, prioritising workloads efficiently to meet deadlines without compromising quality or thoroughness.
- Review test environments, test coverage, and manual QA processes to support continuous improvement and uphold high-quality standards.
- Support project planning by providing accurate estimates for manual testing efforts, helping ensure realistic timelines and timely delivery of high-quality software products.
Requirements
Essential Skills
- At least 2 years’ experience in Manual QA, including testing web-based applications, cross-browser functional testing, and strong familiarity with bug tracking and reporting applications.
- Ability to create and maintain comprehensive manual test documentation, including test plans, test cases, manual test scripts, test scenarios, and defect reports.
- Basic understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to support effective web application testing and defect reporting.
- Working knowledge of BDD-style acceptance criteria and test scenario writing.
- Strong MS Office skills, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, to support test planning, reporting, and documentation.
- Ability to think quickly, adapt under pressure, and manage tight deadlines effectively.
- Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills, with the ability to work closely with developers, stakeholders, and wider project teams.
Desirable skills:
- Experience working within an Agile team
- Equally adept at working on both PC and Mac
- ISEB/ISTQB Foundation Certificate in Software Testing
- Educational qualification to degree level
