Our CPA firm client is seeking a Remote Tax Manager to oversees tax compliance, manage client portfolios, and lead professional staff to deliver exceptional advisory and preparation services. The Tax Manager oversees the firm's tax compliance and planning function, manages tax filings, research, and audits while advising leadership on the tax implications of business decisions. You will act as a technical resource, review complex returns (corporate, partnership, individual, trust, non-profit and gift tax), and drive proactive tax planning.
Job Description
- Review and Compliance: Review complex federal and state tax returns with a focus on accuracy, compliance, and identifying tax-saving opportunities.
- Client Advisory: Serve as the primary point of contact for key clients, offering year-round tax planning, strategic consulting, and proactive communication.
- Team Leadership: Train, mentor, and delegate work to senior and staff accountants, fostering a positive and collaborative team environment.
- Project Management: Manage workflow, deadlines, and budgets for the tax department during peak seasons and throughout the year.
- Technical Research: Resolve complex tax issues and conduct advanced research using modern tax automation tools.
Requirements
- Certification: Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license required.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; Master of Science in Taxation (MST) or MBA is a strong plus.
- Experience: 5 to 8+ years of progressive tax experience within a public accounting firm.
- Technical Skills: Deep knowledge of current tax laws, multi-jurisdictional compliance, and proficiency with tax preparation and research software.
- Soft Skills: Superior verbal and written communication skills, exceptional critical thinking, and proven client-relationship management abilities
