Position Summary:
The SAP PLM Architect supports SOCOM SOF GLSS by designing and implementing the SAP S/4HANA 2023 Product Lifecycle Management architecture with full Teamcenter integration. This role focuses on modernizing engineering‑to‑order (ETO), engineering change management (ECM), configuration control, and BOM synchronization processes so engineering data flows seamlessly from Teamcenter into SAP as the system of record for manufacturing, procurement, sustainment, and Task Order execution.
The architect owns the functional and technical design of PLM integration, including engineering change workflows, document management, CAD data handling, material governance, and engineering BOM structures. The role facilitates PLM Blueprint workshops with engineering, configuration management, program management, production planning, and sustainment teams, and produces the functional design documentation required for implementation.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
- Architect the end‑to‑end PLM integration between Teamcenter and SAP S/4HANA, including engineering change orders, BOM synchronization, document management, and CAD data exchange.
- Define engineering‑to‑order (ETO) processes in SAP, including engineering BOMs, variant structures, configuration control, and change propagation into manufacturing and sustainment.
- Design and configure SAP Engineering Change Management (ECM), including change masters, effectivity, workflow, and change impact analysis.
- Evaluate and design integration options such as SAP ECTR, Teamcenter Gateway, BAPIs, IDocs, and API‑based interfaces; define field mapping, versioning rules, and reconciliation logic.
- Configure SAP Document Management System (DMS) including document types, versioning, status networks, and CAD integration workflows.
- Establish governance for engineering data ownership, release strategies, and version control across Teamcenter and SAP.
- Define how engineering changes drive updates to production BOMs, routings, production orders, purchase requisitions, and sustainment materials.
- Support project manufacturing and Task Order execution by designing ETO structures including project stock, individual requirements materials, and engineering BOMs tied to WBS elements.
- Develop PLM reporting including engineering change status, BOM comparison, configuration baselines, and Fiori/CDS analytical content.
- Facilitate PLM deep‑dive and Blueprint workshops with engineering, configuration management, program management, production planning, and sustainment personnel.
- Author Functional Description Documents, configuration workbooks, functional specifications, and UAT test scripts; maintain decision and open‑item logs.
Minimum Requirements:
- Minimum 6 years of SAP Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) functional configuration experience in an implementation or consulting role, including at least two full-lifecycle implementations.
- Hands‑on experience integrating Teamcenter with SAP (ECTR, Gateway, BAPIs/IDocs, or API‑based interfaces), including BOM synchronization, material governance, document management, and ECO/ECR workflows.
- Demonstrated experience with engineering‑to‑order (ETO) processes, engineering BOMs, variant structures, and configuration control.
- Working knowledge of PLM integration with Production Planning, Materials Management, Controlling, and Project System, especially in project manufacturing or Task Order environments.
- Ability to write clear and complete functional design documentation, functional specifications and UAT test scripts, and to facilitate client working sessions with program management and project controls personnel.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a CAC (Common Access Card); US Citizenship required.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Information Systems, Supply Chain or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
Nice to Have:
- SAP Certified Application Associate – SAP S/4HANA Project Systems, or an equivalent SAP PS certification.
- Experience with SAP S/4HANA 2022 or 2023 on-premise PLM configuration.
- Experience in an aerospace, defense contractor or government contract manufacturing environment, including IDIQ and Task Order contract structures.
- Working knowledge of EVMS and DoD program controls constructs including IPMDAR, contract WBS, BCWS, BCWP and ACWP, and DCMA schedule health assessment.
- Experience with engineer-to-order project manufacturing including project stock, individual requirements materials, WBS BOMs and assembly processing.
- Familiarity with Project Manufacturing Management and Optimization (PMMO), or its GPD predecessor, for grouping, pegging and cost distribution across Task Orders.
- Experience with SAP Production Engineering and Operations (PEO) and the relationship between shop floor execution status and measured project progress.
- Familiarity with SAP Fiori and CDS-based project reporting, and with SAP Financial Project Control (FPC) or Commercial Project Management (CPM) as adjacent options.
- Familiarity with SAP Enterprise Portfolio and Project Management (EPPM) Portfolio Management as a program-office roll-up layer, with the judgment to scope it only where the evidence supports it.
