Position Summary:
The SAP Project System (PS) Functional Consultant leads the Project System deep dive and Blueprint workshop for the Lockheed Martin SOF GLSS engagement within SAP S/4HANA 2023 on-premise. The engagement objective is to improve the Project System configuration so that Integrated Master Schedules (IMS) maintained in the program scheduling tool can be uploaded into and reconciled against SAP project structures, enabling Task Order status reporting and project data collection from the system of record rather than from manually assembled spreadsheets. This consultant owns the functional design of the Task Order project and WBS architecture, the network and activity structure that carries the IMS thread, the schedule interface and its reconciliation rules, and the PS Progress Analysis configuration that turns production and procurement execution into measured project progress. The consultant facilitates the PS deep dive and Blueprint sessions with program management, project controls, scheduling and finance personnel, and authors the resulting Functional Description Documents.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
- Design the Task Order project and WBS architecture, including project definition, coding mask, WBS templates and standard project structures that mirror the Task Order, CLIN and SLIN funding hierarchy so each new Task Order inherits a consistent cost-collecting structure.
- Design the network, activity and milestone structure that carries the Integrated Master Schedule thread in SAP, and define the level at which IMS activities map to PS network activities and WBS elements.
- Configure the schedule interface that loads and refreshes Integrated Master Schedules into Project System — evaluating Open PS, Microsoft Project integration, project connector and file-based upload options — and define the field mapping, key strategy and re-import rules that keep SAP and the external IMS synchronized without duplicate maintenance.
- Define the reconciliation rules governing which system owns dates, network logic and status, and design the exception reporting that surfaces divergence between the uploaded IMS and SAP-scheduled dates.
- Configure PS scheduling, including network scheduling parameters, scheduling types, relationships, constraints, reduction strategies and factory calendar assignment, so imported IMS logic schedules correctly in SAP.
- Configure PS Progress Analysis, including progress versions, measurement methods such as milestone technique, degree of processing and quantity or cost proportionality, statistical key figures, and progress determination for orders assigned to WBS elements.
- Establish the assignment of production orders, purchase requisitions and purchase orders to WBS elements, and configure the order type settings that make production order progress measurable from Project System.
- Design the project data collection architecture covering actual cost capture, labor confirmation, material consumption against project stock, commitment management, and the period-end automation of overhead calculation, results analysis and settlement.
- Configure planning and budget profiles, budget availability control tolerances and settlement rules so funds discipline and cost flow are enforced at the correct WBS level.
- Define the Task Order reporting set, including project structure, cost and schedule reporting, milestone trend analysis, and the Fiori and CDS-based analytical content that replaces manually assembled status reporting.
- Author Functional Description Documents, configuration workbooks, functional specifications and UAT test scripts; maintain the decision and open item log for each assigned workstream.
- Facilitate the onsite PS deep dive and Blueprint sessions with program management, project controls, scheduling, production planning and finance personnel, and enable client staff to operate and sustain the design following implementation.
- Adheres to all certified processes as part of our commitment to maintaining the highest standards of quality and information security, which includes actively participating in quality assurance activities and ensuring the protection of sensitive information in accordance with our security policies.
- Performs other related tasks within the agreed scope of services.
Minimum Requirements:
- Minimum 6 years of SAP Project System (PS) functional configuration experience in an implementation or consulting role, including at least two full-lifecycle implementations.
- Hands-on configuration of project structures including project profiles, coding masks, WBS templates, standard project structures and standard networks, network profiles, network and activity types, and milestones.
- Demonstrated experience integrating an external Integrated Master Schedule or program scheduling tool with SAP PS, including field mapping, date and logic ownership rules, and a repeatable upload or refresh cycle.
- Hands-on configuration of PS scheduling including network scheduling parameters, scheduling types, relationships and constraints, reduction strategies, and factory calendar assignment.
- Configuration experience with PS Progress Analysis including progress versions, measurement methods, progress determination for assigned orders, and earned value reporting from project structures.
- Hands-on configuration of PS cost and funds control including planning and budget profiles, availability control, commitment management, costing sheets, results analysis and settlement rules.
- Working knowledge of PS integration to Production Planning, Materials Management, Controlling and Sales, including assignment of production and purchase orders to WBS elements and the use of project stock.
- Ability to write clear and complete functional design documentation, functional specifications and UAT test scripts, and to facilitate client working sessions with program management and project controls personnel.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a CAC (Common Access Card); US Citizenship required.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Information Systems, Supply Chain or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
Nice to Have:
- SAP Certified Application Associate – SAP S/4HANA Project Systems, or an equivalent SAP PS certification.
- Experience with SAP S/4HANA 2022 or 2023 on-premise PS configuration.
- Experience in an aerospace, defense contractor or government contract manufacturing environment, including IDIQ and Task Order contract structures.
- Working knowledge of EVMS and DoD program controls constructs including IPMDAR, contract WBS, BCWS, BCWP and ACWP, and DCMA schedule health assessment.
- Experience with engineer-to-order project manufacturing including project stock, individual requirements materials, WBS BOMs and assembly processing.
- Familiarity with Project Manufacturing Management and Optimization (PMMO), or its GPD predecessor, for grouping, pegging and cost distribution across Task Orders.
- Experience with SAP Production Engineering and Operations (PEO) and the relationship between shop floor execution status and measured project progress.
- Familiarity with SAP Fiori and CDS-based project reporting, and with SAP Financial Project Control (FPC) or Commercial Project Management (CPM) as adjacent options.
- Familiarity with SAP Enterprise Portfolio and Project Management (EPPM) Portfolio Management as a program-office roll-up layer, with the judgment to scope it only where the evidence supports it.
