Job Summary

As a Toptal Management Consulting Matcher, you will be working directly with Toptal’s clients to understand their needs, custom-match them with Management Consultants from our talent network, and provide support during the matching process, throughout the engagement, and beyond.

This is a remote position. We do not offer visa sponsorship or assistance. Resumes and communication must be submitted in English.

Responsibilities:

• Gather requirements and consult with clients to ensure needs are understood.
• Define job descriptions, talent responsibilities, and requirements.
• Search talent profiles, shortlist candidates, and send availability requests.
• Confirm talent availability, screen job applications, and select candidates.
• Introduce candidates to clients, communicating technical and cultural fit.
• Customize talent rates, adjust commitment types, and schedule engagement dates.
• Obtain feedback on talent and maintain detailed platform documentation.
• Provide advice and guidance to Management Consultants in the network.
• Investigate disputes and collaborate cross-functionally in the resolution process.

In the first week, expect to:

• Onboard and integrate into Toptal.
• Learn about Toptal’s history, culture, and vision.
• Familiarize yourself with the team’s tools, processes, and reporting mechanisms.
• Shadow matching calls and learn about the matching process with your TopPal.

In the first month, expect to:

• Take on your first clients and manage their engagements with Toptal.
• Learn about supporting teams and how they contribute to the company’s success.
• Work closely with individual Management Consultants and our talent network.
• Become proficient with Toptal’s platform.

In the first three months, expect to:

• Be a well-integrated member of the organization with positive relationships in Matching, Sales, and Talent Operations.
• Build a mature client portfolio.
• Establish direct connections with top talents in our network.
• Resolve any client-talent disputes which may arise in your client portfolio.

In the first six months, expect to:

• Become eligible to take on Toptal’s major accounts, including top-tier brands and clients.
• Understand best practices and share effective strategies with the team.

In the first year, expect to:

• Act as a subject matter expert on management consulting matching.
• Continue to promote an environment of teamwork and collaboration.
• Offer insights and ways to improve the success of a Matching lifecycle based on feedback, experience, and data insights.
• Have started taking on initiatives to improve operations, establishing the needed infrastructure for scale.
• Participate in onboarding newcomers and helping them learn about best practices.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree is required.
• Full-time availability during EST or PST working hours.
• 5+ years in Management Consulting (top-tier, or reputable boutique firm), or equivalent strategic advisory experience.
• Hands-on experience across multiple consulting practices — e.g., strategy, finance, operations, marketing, people/HR, and technology — or a strong generalist track record spanning several of these areas.
• Strong adaptability to learn and execute in new areas of expertise — e.g., Product Management, Project Management, Design, Digital Marketing.
• Ability to understand ambiguous business needs and translate them to a consultant’s responsibilities and skills.
• Excellent communication, relationship development and emotional intelligence skills to qualify a consulting project, and to assess fit with the best consultant or team of consultants.
• Understanding of business strategy and management consulting concepts, playbooks and frameworks (MBA is an advantage but not required).
• Ability to quickly adopt new processes and technologies.
• Ability to adhere to tight deadlines and thrive under pressure.
• Strong strategic thinking skills.
• Self-starter who can execute with limited guidance.
