Senior DevOps Engineer
Contract - Mexico, Canada
Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Senior DevOps Engineer who can take end-to-end ownership of DevOps, cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, deployment, monitoring, and operational reliability for applications and environments.
The ideal candidate should be hands-on, capable of working independently across the DevOps lifecycle, and able to collaborate closely with Development, QA, Architecture, Security, and Operations teams to build secure, scalable, automated, and reliable platforms and deployment processes.
Experience
- 6+ years of experience in DevOps, Cloud Engineering, SRE, or Infrastructure Engineering.
- Strong hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Experience designing, implementing, and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for enterprise applications.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automated infrastructure provisioning.
- Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience managing production environments and troubleshooting complex deployment, infrastructure, and application issues.
Must-Have Skills
- Strong expertise in CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, or equivalent.
- Strong cloud experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Strong knowledge of Infrastructure as Code, preferably Terraform.
- Experience with scripting using Python, Bash, PowerShell, or equivalent.
- Strong understanding of Git and branching/release strategies.
- Experience with Linux administration and troubleshooting.
- Strong understanding of networking concepts including DNS, load balancers, firewalls, SSL/TLS, and connectivity.
- Experience with application and infrastructure monitoring, logging, alerting, and observability.
- Understanding of DevSecOps practices, secrets management, access controls, and vulnerability management.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and root-cause analysis skills.
Good-to-Have Skills
- Experience with Helm and Kubernetes package/deployment management.
- Experience with configuration management tools such as Ansible.
- Knowledge of microservices and cloud-native architectures.
- Experience with monitoring platforms such as Datadog, Splunk, Grafana, Prometheus, or ELK.
- Exposure to service mesh and API gateway technologies.
- Understanding of database deployment and migration processes.
- Experience implementing disaster recovery, backup, high availability, and business continuity solutions.
- Familiarity with SRE practices, SLIs/SLOs, capacity planning, and performance optimization.
- Relevant cloud, Kubernetes, or DevOps certifications are advantageous.
Responsibilities
- Take end-to-end ownership of DevOps and deployment processes across development, QA, staging, and production environments.
- Design, build, maintain, and continuously improve CI/CD pipelines to enable reliable and automated application delivery.
- Provision and manage cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code and automation.
- Manage containerized workloads and Kubernetes environments.
- Automate repetitive infrastructure, deployment, configuration, and operational activities.
- Partner with engineering teams to improve build, release, and deployment processes.
- Establish and maintain effective monitoring, logging, alerting, and observability across applications and infrastructure.
- Ensure infrastructure and deployment processes follow appropriate security, scalability, availability, and reliability practices.
- Troubleshoot complex infrastructure, deployment, networking, and production issues and drive root-cause resolution.
- Implement appropriate backup, recovery, high-availability, and disaster-recovery practices.
- Monitor infrastructure performance, availability, capacity, and cloud resource utilization.
- Identify opportunities to improve cloud cost efficiency and resource optimization.
- Conduct technical reviews and guide development teams on DevOps and cloud best practices.
- Maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and deployment/runbook documentation.
- Continuously improve platform stability, deployment efficiency, security, automation, and developer experience.
Key Expectation: This is a hands-on Senior DevOps Engineering role with end-to-end ownership. The candidate should be capable of independently managing the DevOps ecosystem, driving automation, supporting application teams, troubleshooting production issues, and ensuring that applications can be built, deployed, monitored, scaled, and operated reliably and securely.
