Role Overview:
We are looking for a Senior Shopify Full-Stack Developer to take ownership of the technical development and infrastructure behind our DTC e-commerce storefronts.
This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who can work across the Shopify storefront, backend systems, custom applications, integrations, automations, and third-party commerce infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own the development and technical maintenance of Shopify-based DTC storefronts and supporting systems.
- Build and maintain custom Shopify themes and storefront functionality using Liquid, JavaScript/TypeScript, React, and Shopify APIs.
- Develop custom Shopify applications, middleware, services, and integrations when native Shopify functionality is insufficient.
- Determine when to use Shopify Flow, Shopify Functions, custom apps, APIs, webhooks, or external middleware to solve a business or technical problem.
- Build and maintain integrations between Shopify and third-party systems, including 3PLs, warehouses, subscription platforms, CRM/marketing platforms, product/review platforms, and other commerce tools.
- Develop and maintain backend services and data flows supporting Shopify operations.
- Work on 3PL migrations, multi-warehouse setups, fulfillment workflows, inventory synchronization, and order/data integrations.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues involving orders, products, variants, inventory, subscriptions, fulfillment, integrations, APIs, and data synchronization.
- Build and maintain subscription functionality and integrations using platforms such as Skio or Recharge.
- Develop automations and workflows that reduce manual operational work and improve reliability.
- Work with Shopify APIs, GraphQL/REST APIs, webhooks, authentication, and asynchronous processes.
- Build and maintain custom functionality across Shopify's backend and storefront architecture.
- Develop responsive, high-performance storefront experiences using Liquid, React, and/or Hydrogen.
- Optimize page speed, Core Web Vitals, mobile performance, and storefront reliability.
- Implement and maintain CRO and A/B testing, including experiments using tools such as Intelligems, Convert, or VWO.
- Integrate and maintain marketing and customer-data platforms such as Klaviyo and Okendo where required.
- Investigate production issues independently, identify root causes, and implement durable fixes.
- Use AI-powered development tools to accelerate development while independently validating and testing generated code.
- Write, test, review, and deploy production code following strong engineering practices.
- Maintain Git/GitHub workflows, including branches, pull requests, testing, and code reviews.
- Own technical decisions from implementation through production without relying on another engineering team for escalation.
Requirements
- 7+ years of professional software development experience, with significant hands-on Shopify experience.
- Deep experience building and maintaining production Shopify stores and custom Shopify functionality.
- Strong experience with Shopify Liquid, JavaScript/TypeScript, Shopify APIs, and webhooks.
- Hands-on experience with Shopify Flow, Shopify Functions, custom Shopify apps, or Shopify middleware.
- Experience building integrations between Shopify and external systems using APIs, webhooks, and custom services.
- Experience working with 3PLs, warehouses, fulfillment systems, inventory synchronization, or other commerce operations infrastructure.
- Experience with Shopify migrations, multi-warehouse environments, or complex order/fulfillment integrations is highly valuable.
- Strong backend development experience using Node.js or another comparable backend technology.
- Experience working with databases and backend data management.
- Strong understanding of REST and GraphQL APIs, authentication, webhooks, asynchronous processes, and data synchronization.
- Experience with subscription commerce and platforms such as Skio or Recharge.
- Strong Git/GitHub experience, including branches, pull requests, testing, and deployment workflows.
