✨ One platform, a whole world of opportunity

The best jobs have always clustered in a handful of the world's wealthiest cities. But talent is everywhere. Oyster set out to close that gap - building a global employment platform that lets companies hire, pay, and care for brilliant people anywhere.

We're proof that a high-performing culture doesn't need an office. Distributed across 60+ countries since 2020, we've built something the industry keeps noticing:

Two of those rankings measured our business impact from the outside. One measured how our own people feel about working here. They landed in the same place ~ because at Oyster, culture and performance aren't separate conversations. They're the same one.

And we're just getting started. If you want to do the best work of your career alongside people who care as much as you do, we'd love for you to apply.

The Role

Location: While this position is posted in a specific location, all of Oyster’s positions are fully remote and you can work from home. Forever. To create the best experience for our new hire, this role requires you to be based within -3 / - 8 UTC.

We are looking for a hands-on Senior Accountant to own day-to-day accounting, monthly reporting, and ERP activities for Oyster entities around the world, with a focus on LATAM coverage. You will combine rigorous accounting judgment with proactive stakeholder management, lead close and audit activities, investigate complex discrepancies, and improve the systems and processes that keep a distributed finance function accurate and scalable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage full-cycle accounting and intercompany transactions for global subsidiaries.

  • Prepare and review financial statements and balance-sheet reconciliations across multiple entities.

  • Lead month-end and year-end close activities, maintaining clear checklists and documentation.

  • Coordinate monthly, quarterly, and annual local statutory filings and provide complete support packages.

  • Oversee local statutory audits and resolve auditor questions and adjustments.

  • Reconcile local statutory records to the ERP

  • Conduct financial analysis, identify trends or discrepancies, and present decision-useful insights.

  • Own assigned ERP activities and improve accounting standards, controls, documentation, and automation.

  • Proactively coordinate dependencies across Finance, Payroll, Tax, Legal, and external partners.

  • Execute ad hoc financial projects and support junior teammates with practical guidance.

Core Requirements

  • At least 5 years of accounting experience, including at least 1 year operating at senior-accountant scope.

  • CPA (or part-qualified) or an equivalent professional accounting qualification.

  • Strong knowledge of multi-entity accounting, intercompany transactions, financial reporting, reconciliations, close, and audit support.

  • Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and manipulation of large datasets.

  • Meticulous attention to detail and a logical, evidence-based approach to problem solving.

  • Ability to prioritize competing deadlines and maintain quality across several entities.

  • Strong written and spoken English, with effective stakeholder management in an asynchronous environment.

  • Proactive follow-through, sound judgment, and a continuous-improvement and automation mindset.

Bonus / Nice-to-Have Experience

  • NetSuite or a comparable ERP.

  • Payroll accounting or SaaS experience.

  • High-growth startup or rapidly changing international environment.

  • Accounting across EMEA jurisdictions, including local statutory reporting and local-to-group reconciliation.

This might not be right for you if...

  • You prefer a narrowly scoped, single-entity role with limited stakeholder contact.

  • You are uncomfortable investigating ambiguous discrepancies or making evidence-based accounting recommendations.

  • You need close supervision to manage deadlines, follow up with stakeholders, or keep work documented.

  • You prefer manual routines and have little interest in improving controls, systems, or automation.

You'll also need

  • A reliable home internet connection and fluency in both written and spoken English.
