The listing

"Garbage in, garbage out." (a computing maxim often credited to IBM instructor George Fuechsel)

Our client's platform is built on the opposite idea: messy vendor data goes in, and clean, trustworthy records come out. We're looking for the engineer who will own that transformation.

At DistantJob, we're searching for a Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer for one of our U.S.-based clients. They're building a platform that cleans, matches and unifies vendor data for many client firms, then feeds it to their payment products through an API. The engineer who joins will take real ownership of that platform alongside the Tech Lead.

This isn't a "pick up tickets and wait for instructions" role. You'll shape how the platform is designed and shipped, from the first scoping conversation to production.

What you'll be doing

  • Designing, building and running the platform end to end, across backend and frontend
  • Building and maintaining the APIs other systems rely on, plus the screens operators use every day
  • Owning vendor data mastering, matching, deduplication and reconciliation, and the data-quality checks that keep records trustworthy
  • Scaling the platform across many client tenants and growing data volumes, including asynchronous and event-driven processing
  • Working with the Tech Lead on architecture and with product on priorities
  • Keeping quality high through code reviews, tests and a disciplined development process

What we're looking for

  • 5+ years of software engineering, with real production ownership
  • Strong Python and modern API development
  • Frontend experience with Angular or React, and TypeScript
  • Solid SQL and relational data modeling
  • Cloud experience with Azure or AWS
  • Experience with multi-tenant or multi-client systems
  • Experience with event-driven or message-based architectures
  • The independence to own work from design to production, partner closely with product, and keep up in a fast-paced environment

Bonus points

  • Experience with large, messy datasets: matching, deduplication, transformation and reconciliation across sources
  • Background in payments, accounts payable, fintech or fund administration
  • Familiarity with entity resolution, record linkage, and AI-assisted matching
  • Hands-on use of AI development tools

Tech you'll work with

Python, TypeScript (Angular or React), SQL, Azure or AWS, REST APIs, event-driven architectures

The setup

  • Fully remote, long-term, full-time position (8 hours a day, 5 days a week)
  • Working hours aligned with U.S. business hours
  • Direct integration into the client's engineering team
