Our client is a growing U.S.-based consumer products brand specializing in sustainable, bamboo-based household paper products. The company sells across e-commerce and retail and is expanding its wholesale presence throughout the U.S.
About the Role
We are looking for a CPG Sales Assistant to work directly with the Founder & CEO to grow the company's wholesale business. This role combines account management, sales development, and sales analysis, with a focus on maintaining retailer relationships, identifying growth opportunities, monitoring account performance, and supporting promotional and inventory planning.
What You'll Do
Manage existing wholesale and retail accounts, including order follow-ups, reorders, and account needs.
Monitor sales data to identify declining orders, inactive accounts, sales trends, and opportunities to grow revenue.
Proactively follow up with retailers when orders slow down or stop to understand the reasons and encourage reorders.
Review retailer and distributor inventory levels and flag potential stock shortages ahead of promotions or expected increases in demand.
Support sales forecasting and promotional planning by reviewing historical sales, order patterns, and upcoming promotions.
Prospect for new retail and wholesale accounts through cold email and phone calls.
Build relationships with retailers, brokers, and distributors and follow up on sales opportunities.
Coordinate retailer promotions, category review submissions, and related deadlines.
Maintain accurate sales reports, account records, and follow-up activities using Google Sheets and other internal tools.
Coordinate with internal teams and distributor contacts to address order, inventory, and account issues.
Track sales performance against agreed-upon targets and take action to improve account engagement and results.
Requirements
2+ years of experience in sales, account management, sales coordination, or a similar role.
Experience in CPG, consumer products, retail, or wholesale.
Experience working with U.S. retailers, wholesale accounts, distributors, or brokers.
Experience reviewing sales reports or account performance data and using insights to recommend or take action.
Ability to identify changes in ordering patterns, declining sales, inactive accounts, and potential inventory issues.
Strong written and spoken English, with confidence communicating by phone and email.
Comfortable with cold calling, outbound prospecting, and account reactivation.
Strong analytical, organizational, and follow-up skills.
Proficiency in Google Sheets or Excel, including organizing and analyzing sales data.
Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple accounts, and communicate directly with a Founder/CEO.
Availability to work Monday–Friday in the U.S. Central Time.
Highly Preferred
Experience working with U.S. grocery retailers, retail chains, or CPG distributors such as UNFI or KeHE.
Experience working with retail brokers and supporting category reviews.
Experience monitoring distributor or retail distribution center inventory and coordinating promotional stock planning.
Experience with sales forecasting, promotional performance tracking, or inventory planning.
