About the Role 

Carrier has an opening for an experienced Commercial HVAC Area Manager to support our national Data Center team. This role is responsible for leading service operations and enabling profitable growth across a portfolio of mission-critical data center customers throughout the United States and Canada. Working closely with the National Data Center organization, the Area Manager will help expand market share through new business development, consistent operational execution, and exceptional customer experience. Products and services include repair service, maintenance agreements, modernization projects, and lifecycle solutions. The ideal candidate brings strong business acumen, a detailed understanding of data centers, technical sales and service operations, and experience coordinating complex work across multiple markets.

 

 Key Responsibilities 

    • Champion a culture of safety, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement across all supported markets
    • Lead and coordinate service operations for national data center customers, ensuring consistent execution of sales commitments, maintenance agreements, repair work, and modernization projects
    • Partner with the data center strategic account leaders, to execute growth plans aligned with revenue and EBIT objectives
    • Serve as the operational point of coordination for national data center accounts, establishing clear ownership, escalation paths, and service standards
    • Ensure reliable delivery in mission-critical environments by maintaining strong planning, scheduling, technical readiness, and risk-management practices
    • Drive technician productivity, work-order completion, digital asset connectivity, contract performance, and customer retention
    • Build and maintain site-level customer relationships through professional credibility, responsiveness, and strong knowledge of HVAC systems and data center operating requirements
    • Standardize operating practices, performance expectations, and customer communication across the national Data Center team while accounting for local market requirements
    • Collaborate with engineering, controls, project management, supply chain, sales, and field teams to align solutions with customer needs and commitments
    • Forecast, monitor, and communicate financial and operational performance against plan, including revenue, margin, backlog, productivity, and execution risks
    • Ensure customer satisfaction through on-time performance, service continuity, effective issue resolution, and delivery against contractual commitments
    • Support pipeline conversion by validating delivery capacity, scope, cost, and execution plans
    • Ensure Daily Management Board meetings are conducted and participate as a required leader
    • Monitor core Daily Management Board KPIs, assign corrective actions when performance is below target, and drive timely closure of action items
    • Partner with the team to review KPI performance, address underperforming items, and communicate recovery plans through the action-card process
    • Ensure scheduling and optimization guidelines, technical standards, safety requirements, and best practices are consistently
    • Identify and participate in relevant data center industry organizations, customer forums, trade shows, and events to strengthen market presence and promote company capabilities
    • Support workforce and capacity planning, including technician onboarding, readiness, specialized training, succession needs, and deployment for critical customer requirements

 

Required Qualifications 

    • High School Diploma/GED with 8 years of HVAC operations leadership experience in lieu of the education requirement
    • 5+ years of experience in service operations, sales, project execution, or business leadership
    • Experience leading teams, programs, or customer operations across multiple geographic markets
    • Ability to travel based on customer, team, and business needs

 

Preferred Qualifications  

    • Bachelor’s degree
    • 8+ years of HVAC service operations leadership experience
    • Experience supporting data centers, critical facilities, or other mission-critical environments
    • Experience managing national or multi-site customers and coordinating execution across regional teams
    • Working knowledge of chilled-water systems, air-side systems, controls, redundancy strategies, preventive maintenance, and critical-environment change controls
    • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Salesforce, SAP, and service-management or performance-reporting tools
    • Customer-centric mindset with the ability to build trusted relationships at executive, operational, and site levels
    • Proactive, organized, and able to balance multiple priorities, customer escalations, and geographically dispersed work
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to translate technical and operational issues into clear business actions
    • Understanding of financial and accounting principles, including revenue, margin, forecasting, backlog, and cost control
    • Strong service operations background with demonstrated success improving safety, productivity, quality, and customer retention
    • Deep knowledge of the HVAC, building controls, and/or building technologies industry
    • Ability to influence and deliver results within a large, matrixed organization without relying solely on direct authority
    • Demonstrated ability to establish standard operating practices and scalable processes across multiple markets

Pay Range

The annual salary for this position is between $117,500.00 - $234,500.00 annually. Factors which may affect pay within this range include, but are not limited to, skills, education, experience, and other unique qualifications of the successful candidate. The pay range will not be below the minimum wage applicable to the jurisdiction in which the applicant is to be employed.

Other Compensation

This position is entitled to short-term cash incentives, subject to plan requirements.
