Charger Logistics Inc. is a leading asset-based transportation company with over 20 years of experience delivering innovative logistics solutions. We have evolved into a world-class transport provider and continue to expand across North America.
We're looking for a Cloud Network Engineer to design, build and run the network that connects our cloud platforms, offices and terminals across North America. Our systems run 24/7 to support trucking and logistics operations, so the network has to be fast, secure and always available. You'll work closely with our infrastructure, SRE, security and development teams in Canada.
Please note this is a Contract opportunity for potential to convert in a permanent role..
Responsibilities:
- Design, build and manage cloud networks (VPCs/VNets, subnets, routing, peering) across GCP, Azure and AWS.
- Set up and maintain secure connections between cloud environments, data centres and our offices and terminals, using site-to-site VPN, Cloud Interconnect, ExpressRoute or Direct Connect.
- Manage cloud load balancers, DNS, NAT and network gateways for our production services.
- Configure and maintain firewalls, security groups and network policies to keep traffic secure.
- Support networking for our Kubernetes platform (ingress, network policies, service-to-service traffic).
- Build and manage network infrastructure as code with Terraform.
- Monitor network performance, troubleshoot latency and connectivity issues, and take part in an on-call rotation.
- Support zero-trust and secure remote access tools such as Zscaler, Cloudflare or Palo Alto Prisma.
- Document network designs and keep diagrams and runbooks up to date.
- Plan for capacity, high availability and disaster recovery, and help manage cloud networking costs.
Requirements
- 6–8 years in network engineering, including at least 2–3 years with cloud networking.
- Hands-on experience with networking on at least one major cloud (GCP, Azure or AWS). More than one is a plus.
- Strong networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, subnetting, routing (BGP, OSPF), DNS, DHCP, NAT, VPN and load balancing.
- Experience with hybrid connectivity between on-premises sites and the cloud.
- Hands-on with firewalls (Palo Alto, Fortinet, Cisco or cloud-native firewalls).
- Infrastructure as code with Terraform or similar.
- Scripting in Python, Bash or PowerShell for automation.
- Strong troubleshooting skills using tools like Wireshark, traceroute and cloud flow logs.
Nice to have
- Kubernetes networking (CNI, ingress controllers, service mesh)
- SD-WAN experience (Cisco, Fortinet, VMware VeloCloud or similar)
- Zero-trust or SASE tools: Zscaler, Cloudflare, Netskope or Prisma Access
- Certifications such as CCNP, Google Professional Cloud Network Engineer, AWS Advanced Networking Specialty or Azure Network Engineer Associate (AZ-700)
- Experience in logistics, transportation or another 24/7 operations environment
