The role
Gauntlet is looking for a Trading Operations Lead based in APAC to help oversee our vaults and trading strategies during Asian market hours.
You'll work closely with our strategy and curation teams, monitoring live strategies, investigating alerts, and responding when markets move or something isn't behaving as expected. We already operate a 24/7 on-call rotation, and this hire will help us build out more consistent coverage across timezones, with someone based in APAC who can take ownership when issues arise.
The workload is varied, with a primary focus on ensuring our vaults and trading strategies operate safely and effectively during APAC hours. You'll be responsible for monitoring live strategies, responding to incidents, and supporting new vault and strategy launches, particularly during periods of increased market activity.
Alongside your operational responsibilities, you'll also work closely with our Product and Business Development teams, acting as a technical point of contact for partners across Asia. This includes explaining how our vaults and strategies work, understanding partner requirements, and helping explore opportunities for strategy expansion. With a growing proportion of our business coming from APAC, we're looking for someone who can comfortably have these conversations in both Mandarin and English.
This isn't a traditional engineering or quantitative research role. We're looking for someone with practical experience in live markets who understands how trading strategies operate, follows market developments closely, and knows how to respond when something goes wrong, and can partner and collaborate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
About Gauntlet
Gauntlet builds the financial systems of the future. While much of onchain finance is focused on point solutions, we operate across the entire stack to offer best-in-class vault products. Today we serve over $1.5B in client TVL across some of the largest fintechs/neobanks, protocols, exchanges, and capital allocators in crypto — and, increasingly, traditional asset management. Our team brings together traditional finance and crypto-native expertise to deliver durable, sophisticated products for institutional clients moving onchain.
What you'll do;
- Take ownership of trading operations and on-call coverage during APAC hours, working across our vault strategy and curation teams.
- Monitor live vaults and strategies, investigate alerts, and identify unexpected behavior or potential risks using internal dashboards and onchain data.
- Respond to operational incidents, following established playbooks where appropriate and escalating to the relevant teams when needed.
- Work with teams across different timezones to improve operational processes, incident response procedures, and handovers.
- Stay close to crypto and broader financial markets, identifying developments that could impact our strategies and sharing relevant insights with the team.
- Support Business Development in technical discussions with APAC partners, helping explain our products, understand requirements, and explore potential new strategies.
- Help improve the tools, monitoring processes, and documentation that support our day-to-day operations.
What we're looking for;
- Experience working directly with live financial markets, ideally in trading operations, execution, or a similar role at a hedge fund, proprietary trading firm, trading desk, or crypto trading business.
- A strong understanding of market dynamics and trading strategies, with the ability to recognise unusual market behaviour and understand the potential implications.
- Someone who actively follows crypto and traditional financial markets and is comfortable making decisions as new information comes in.
- Good judgment under pressure, with the confidence to investigate issues independently, resolve what you can, and escalate when necessary.
- Strong technical aptitude and the ability to understand how trading strategies work without necessarily being a software engineer or quantitative researcher.
- Excellent communication skills, with experience working across teams and explaining technical concepts to different audiences.
- Business fluency in both Mandarin and English.
- Experience working with DeFi protocols, onchain trading, or digital asset strategies.
- Experience working directly with institutional clients or partners in a technical capacity, including solutions engineering, solutions architecture, technical consulting, or supporting the implementation of trading strategies.
- Familiarity with Python, SQL, or other tools used for data analysis and monitoring.
