Placement Length: 6 Months (we ask that volunteers commit a minimum of 7 hours per week)

Language Requirements: English Level 4-Advanced

Eligibility: Open to Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents of Canada only

The E-Volunteer’s Role

Use your expertise to help our partner, the Private Sector Organization of Jamaica (PSOJ), strengthen how it measures impact, improves governance and delivers effective programs and services. In this virtual placement, your contributions will help PSOJ build practical systems that support stronger decision-making, accountability and long-term organizational growth.

Working collaboratively with PSOJ, you will develop monitoring and evaluation (M&E) tools that capture and communicate results to internal and external stakeholders. You will also help advance good-governance frameworks that streamline operations, strengthen reporting and embed effective practices across the organization.

As an e-volunteer, you will support the organization through the following activities:

  • Build an institutional mapping matrix: Identify Canadian organizations, including chambers of commerce, provincial boards of trade and industry associations, whose private-sector development programs align with PSOJ’s priorities.
  • Analyze best practices and revenue models: Benchmark approaches used by Canadian counterparts, such as fee-for-service digital advisory programs, sponsored SME upskilling cohorts and corporate membership tiers.
  • Create a collaboration and partnership roadmap: Develop an outreach strategy and partnership framework for joint initiatives, cross-border trade-readiness programs and donor- or grant-funded bilateral projects between PSOJ and Canadian institutions.

Essential Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in organizational management, business management or a related field

Essential Background:

  • Strategic and operational planning: Extensive experience in strategic planning, organizational planning, business planning and management, with knowledge of policy development.
  • Communication and relationship building: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a strong ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with teams.
