Summary
Workiva is looking for a Sr. Director of Tax to shape and execute our global tax strategy. In this leadership role, you will lead our tax function while driving compliance, risk management, and strategic planning across all global operations. You will partner closely with executive leaders to support long-term business goals and ensure seamless financial execution. If you are a visionary tax leader ready to drive impact in a fast-paced technology environment, we want to hear from you.
What You'll Do
- Develop and execute the company's long-term global corporate income tax and indirect tax strategies, aligned with business growth, to manage the effective tax rate, cash taxes, and tax risk.
- Own the quarterly and annual global tax provision under ASC 740, including current and deferred taxes, valuation allowances, uncertain tax positions, and effective tax rate analysis. Be responsible for all tax-related SEC disclosures (10-K, 10-Q, proxy), including the income tax footnote, rate reconciliation, and MD&A discussion.
- Evaluate and apply new accounting and tax guidance, and document technical positions in memos.
- Partner with Controllership, Legal, Investor Relations, and external auditors on disclosures, audits, and SOX controls over income taxes.
- Oversee U.S. federal, state and local, and non-U.S. income tax compliance, and ensure timely, accurate filings globally.
- Own U.S. international tax positions and planning, including GILTI (NCTI), Subpart F, FDII (FDDEI), BEAT and foreign tax credits.
- Monitor Pillar Two and global minimum tax developments and readiness.
- Own transfer-pricing policy and manage tax exposure across intercompany arrangements; partner with Controller on intercompany accounting, documentation and elimination.
- Direct withholding, treaty and permanent establishment analysis on cross-border flows.
- Identify and execute tax planning opportunities, including credits, incentives, and entity structuring. Evaluate complex tax legislation changes to mitigate risks and capitalize on opportunities.
- Provide tax diligence, structuring, and integration support for M&A and financing transactions.
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of three tax professionals, reviewing their provision, compliance, and technical work for accuracy and quality.
- Advise executive leadership on tax risk and the tax implications of business initiatives.

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license or Juris Doctor (JD) degree.

- Ability to multi-task, establish priorities, and work well with cross-functional teams under pressure.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex tax topics to non-tax executives.
- Proven track record in a dynamic environment, comfortable leading through change.
